Actually, I can to know about these Maharajes, in 1989 in NYC, by an immigrant from Poland, with very little english. But was able to get help and explained me. I thought he was confused, not not know where India is. But then he did mention one of the kid from these refuge camp, become the PM and he came to visit the site.

Our schools don't teach history other than European WAR, ancient and Medival wala. That's a common thing in other parts of the world. Although changes do occur. Polish people's pain is unforgettable.They suffered for more than a century and half.First they suffered under Nepoleon,then under Russians and Germans.Their story is untold.Apart from Jews they were a large group which was mass murdered and experienced pain in concentration camps of Nazis.Here Russians (Soviets) were equally responsible for this casualities.They were who with the mutual understanding with Nazis attaked from East side in September 1939 according to Molotov-Ribbentrop pact better known as Hitler -Stalin pact in WW2 .They captured a large area of Poland from east and merged it with Belarus and Ukraine province.They gave a small Territory in west to Poland from Germany which they captured during the war in exchange of territories in east.The Soviets made Poland a client state for more than 40 years.The poland just like the people of East Germany experienced economic crisis because of outdated Communist idea.Polish people fled to different parts of world in order to save their lives but they were mistreated in various regions.They faced discriminations and disrespect.Only in few places they were welcomed,the living example is that of India(Bharat).Just like polish peoples India (Bharat) has welcomed different people inspite of their faith,race or culture.Sabhaji Raje present a beautiful example of it.Polish peoples were treated with double standards in US cities like Chicago and others.One such story of discrimination and insult is presented in NCERT class 10 English book First Flight.This story is of the problem faced by a Polish girl Wanda Petronski titled The hundred dresses. But in present time during to hardwork of its people Poland have emerged as Powerhouse of Europe. Respect for 🇵🇱Poland from India (Bharat). 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Perhaps communist rulers of Poland didn't want to show kings in good light and suppressed the story. Common people forgot it, if they knew it at all. Only the surviving refugees many have remembered. Very few Indians in India know this story either. Would be interesting to look for the places where the refugees were put up in India. Maybe call them Poland Square 😄

I would disagree. It is not that all Indians know about the Maharaja. A few years ago a Polish film maker wanted to make a movie a d he contacted many Indians and later I could see in media but before that I had no idea about Polish kids were sent to Gujrat. My husband told me but me as an Indian never knew. The new generation may not know about good Maharaja too but some old generation definitely know. For ex my Mother in law .
