Ms. Hobbs, we admire the bravery of the Poles in enduring and countering the Nazi occupation and ultimate genocide. I have read several Holocaust related short stories in my childhood, on how they withstood the betrayal by the collaborators innovatively. Anne Frank's Diary is a part of our school curriculum. "The Pianist" is the greatest movie I've ever watched and it made me deeply admire the courage of the Polish people. I am very happy to see one of the descendants of the aforementioned refugees comment here. Wish peace and prosperity to your great nation!

Mr Frydman was of Polish Jewish heritage and had been living and working in India. He was known to have visited Mahatma Gandhi and made a new design of the spinning wheel that Gandhiji used. He also worked towards facilitating a safe passage for the Dalai Lama to get to India when Tibet was invaded by the Chinese government.

We are always taught that when you sacrifice something/ donate something/ help some one - one should not boast about it. It will loose its significance and purpose if you do so. If you help some one from your right hand, even your left hand should not get to know about it. Good deeds are worth respect only when its done selflessly. Its up to the receiver to either remember it or forget it. As Indians it wont be right for us to ask Poland to add this into their history books. It will be like begging someone to recognise our good deeds. If the very is worthy enough of respect by polish people they will have to do it by themselves without us asking for it. If they dont do then we still wont ask them to do it. Its up to their understanding and feelings to decide who and what all is worth of respect and to be rembered.

A giver cannot brag about his deed,I agree. But a taker who does not acknowledge, appreciate or record a great deed is guilty of ingratitude and proves himself to be unworthy of it.

Yes, I have heard about this wonderful and touching gesture through a newspaper article or via the Internet. Very good effort from you, Karolina, to spread this information to many living in Poland. I think you should definitely make a documentary on this. Love and greetings from India.

Thanks madam for unearthing the forgotten pages of history. India has always welcomed each and every race on this earth open heartedly and accepted them as their own without any discrimination of cast , creed and religion. Although for this generosity she had to pay very much for thousands of years but even after so much repression our cultural ethos are still intact- Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam, all the human beings living on this earth are one family. This is not only holy utterance written in any holy book but it is in breath of every native of like like racism in masses of Europe and America! When great Swami Vivekananda expressed this feeling at the Chicago World Parliament of Religion in 1893 by addressing them "Dear sisters and brothers of America " instead of standard western way of addressing, ladies and gentlemen, it was bold declaration of Indian brotherhood. Entire crowd became almost mad by mere these words because they felt that the person who is addressing us is most near and dear to us and is really our brother. Several thousand people endorsed our brother by uninterrupted clapping for three minutes! Now you are our own and India is your home , you are doing more than a native Indian can do. You a bridge between our both countries, Poland and India, really doing the same what Indians expects from his new Bahu. Welcome to you in your new home!
