My husband and I are both retired Navy and took a MAC from Seattle to Okinawa, Japan September last year (2023) to visit our LT daughter stationed there and it was seamless. We submitted our travel request online at the farthest out date, checked the MAC site leading up to the date and saw how many seats were available as well as the track record of that flight. We had to refuel in Alaska, take all our carry-on luggage with us, sit in the waiting area and then reboard after fueling concluded. The return flight was equally as uneventful...and the on-flight food was really good...they even gave second helpings! We're planning a February return and will repeat the MAC experience. I LOVE being retired Navy!!

Are you living close to McChord AFB? I'm retired Army and the wife and I want to do this too. Last time I flew Space A was in the 80's. I'm betting a lot has changed since then.

@@davettbr6425 We're on the east coast and flew to Seattle just for the MAC. I was active duty in the 80's, so I have nothing to compare this trip to, but this will be our primary way to fly, when we have to fly.

We can't wait to take a MAC flight. One of the many perks of being retired that we have been talking about for a while now. I have flown them while active duty....but this time will be different. Now to schedule the dang thing!

The overhead bunk in a Class C is what I refer to as the attic. I just sold my 31' Class C. Now I'm building out an E250 Ford van. It should be perfect for a solo nomad like me. I took the Class C from PA. to FL. and then to Kerrville TX. It was a great time and I learned that I don't need that much space. I hope that you enjoy your downsized Class C. Safe travels all.

Space A 😂 Fun or nightmare! Be flexible, pack LIGHT, you,ll be glad you did. A sleeping pad, blanket, and small pillow for sleeping in ops or on a C17 floor a more valuable than extra clothing. We met great people helping each other with tips and tricks. Rarely goes as planned but that's part of the adventure. Good luck!

But better to do it, and say you didn't need to than not do it and wished you had. I pray she will be OK. Thank y'all for all that you do for us and the many vets that you help. My wife and I are both Army Brats. Back in the early 80's we called it "Space A" (Space Available). I have haunting memories of sitting in the McGuire AFB Terminal for 3 days waiting for a passenger pallet on a C-141. I was too respectful to the LTC at the time but if I have to live life again, I will put my arm around him and say "Dad, this is crap. Throw a few hundred bucks at United Airlines and let's get to Germany versus living in this air terminal encampment...". I do remember my dad joking that the advantage of a Space A flight is that you'll never lose your luggage - it's strapped to the floor in front of you!

When I was 12 years old, my parents, my sister and I flew to Germany to visit my brother while he was stationed there. We flew in a C5-A! It took us 5 days for the four of us to get seats. Ear plugs, no windows. It was crazy! LOL! It was out of Dover. I'll never forget that! We're full time RV'rs too! About 2.5 years on the road. I would love to check out Space-A! Unfortunately, this whole world has gone crazy, so we may wait.

My wife and I are retired Air Force. And while on active duty in England we would take Space A to Germany to visit friends and then use their house to use on base MWR tours to visit the other countries. I also, flew back to Michigan when the MI Air National Guard was there doing their two weeks. The easiest flights are the medical routine rotators. And if you can get a “Speciality” flight on one of the DV flights even better. We had one of those and it was like traveling 1st class on a private jet. If get a KC135 flight and can watch a refueling it’s a bucket list item to check off. We retire from our 2nd careers next year and plan to start flying Space A out of JBSA Lackland and Randolph.

So excited to have found your channel. Hubby & I bought our 1st RV last November & the owner referred you to us. We just got back from a cross-country trip from Louisiana to Washington State. We had a blast BUT I felt like I was in the Flintstones Car going up some of those Mountains in our 1996 Minnie Winnie but it was fun. We are now retired and ready to hit the road in the RV and visit other countries. Hubby retired from the Army after 24 years & there are places he would like to visit that he couldn't do while deployed. We would love to go on cruises, rallies, etc. I can't wait to get involved with others out there! While on our cross-country journey, we ran into a lot of different people and had great conversations. We were told about Fantasy RV tours & those look like some great events. Like I mentioned, we bought the 1996 Minnie Winnie 29ft & already we are looking to upgrade but geez, there are so many options out there, where to start. I think we need a diesel to navigate those mountains but after all the research I have been doing, I am left with more questions than answers. I know we want to be able to work, cook & have a nice bedroom but that comes in Class A, which I am not against, just not sure. We want to be able to tow our vehicle, oh are so many things to do from downgrading from our current home & upgrading our current RV to deciding on the next trip! I am sorry to hear about Mom, I will keep all of you in my thoughts & prayers. My mom is on home hospice and we are her current full-time caregivers it is so hard watching your mom suffer from dementia that it breaks my heart. We were so happy that we were able to take Mom from Louisiana to Florida to visit her brother who she hadn't seen in over 10 years due to him not being able to travel due to cancer. It really warmed our hearts to be able to get them together & hopefully, it won't be the last time but, well, please keep us in your prayers. Anyway, good luck with working on your bucket list! I am going to figure out how to start a website & youtube channel so I can share our adventures...lol another thing I have to figure out, where does a Granny gone Glamping start!! My grandkids love that name, we will see. WOW, I clicked, see more in your description and it looks like you have a wealth of information that could really help me actually get this going! Thank you both for sharing your knowledge, I can't wait to get started.

Great video! Prayers for you guys. Hope it all works out for your family situation going on. A great rally place would be at the balloon fiesta in Alberquerque, NM. It is just one of those must go places with an RV, logistics of a rally could be tricky though because it sells out quickly.

Would love to participate in a rally. Please note - RVMiles is already having their rallies at Amana Colonies, typically in October. Would prefer another location.

The little village of Monowi, Ne. . If you look hard, you just about can tell where the tracks were. Usually, tracks would be by the grain elevator. And the load spout indicates that the tracks were between the elevator and the highway. If fallow the power lines some. It looks like the tracks were where the power lines are now. Either there was another building for loading trains. Or they never loaded trains, unless they had the ( I'm not sure what they call them.) But I think it's the loading spur. If you look at GOOGLE maps from satellite view. The elevator is still there. But from the street view, you can see the spout about half way down the front. Which is why I say the tracks were in between road, and building. Prayer's for your mother. And God bless you all.

I'm sorry, I haven't followed your book club, but you mentioned going to the Isle of Guernsey. If you haven't read it already, you should add "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society". It's a wonderful book about the occupation of the Isle of Guernsey, from a fairly light hearted view point. Of course, there are parts that tug at your heart. Love your channel!

My husband and I have been to Europe five times and never had cell service any of those visits (3 weeks in France including a fantastic trip to the D-Day beaches). We lived to tell every story connections with European locals because we had to talk to people. I wouldn't travel any other way.
