While packing and shipping this Spring’s It’s Better Outside store orders, Corey shares the surprise about how he is getting all of the orders to the post office and scares Lily a little bit in the process!
Corey’s brother got his new Tesla Cybertruck right before we arrived in Maine this year and allowed us to use it not only to make all of our deliveries but also to test out towing the RV. The reactions we got driving it around alone were pretty crazy, but people were really expressive when they saw it towing the RV!
Overall, we were very impressed with how the Cybertruck performed during our little test. The girls loved being able to look through the full sunroof back at the RV, and we were all surprised by how smooth it drove since we were maxing out its towing capacity.
Jess got a little nervous when she had to drive while Corey was droning the adventure. Everything was fine until Corey crashed the drone!
Stay tuned for next week as we travel to and explore 2 totally different sides of New York, and we share our new RV for the summer! Be sure to like and subscribe and click on the bell icon for notifications when we release new videos!

Can not get over the UGLY factor. I grew up in the 70's with muscle cars. SS Chevelle, Mach 1 Mustang, 442, just to name a few. I got a brand new '76 Trans Am half way thru my senior year, thank you dad. Not because my parents were rich, because he told me and my sister if we dug deep and did the best we could in school. He would buy us a car our senior year. We both did that but my poor father as we learned later worked so many overtime hours to make that happen for us, we missed out on time with him. Even when he would work 6 days a week, he would still take us to the lake in the boat he basically bought for us and take us skiing. Funny how later in life you understand how much your parents gave up for you, how much they did for you. Saw a quote once." You never understand how much you love your mom and dad until they are gone". I found out !!!!!!!!

I wonder how it would feel backing an Rv with four wheel stearing. Also I have noticed locally that electric vehicles that don’t use the brakes but just decelerate no brake light go on. I think that could be a potential rear end collision given how quickly electric motors slow down. Thanks for taking us on a towing test drive.

We tow our trailer (although only 5,500lbs) with a 1/2 ton hybrid. It has great torque and in my opinion is the best of both worlds for a light RV. I get great mileage in the city while it takes advantage of the electric motor but have the range needed when doing bigger trips. I share your opinion about the interior of the CyberTruck but am not a fan of the exterior. Until battery range increases exponentially, they are not viable for anyone that wants to drive more than 2 hours at a time.

Something that has to be addressed for EV towing is the fact that charging stations are not built for trucks with trailers, etc. Every time you charge up you will have to disconnect, drive over to charge station and then charge and reconnect.

Our country’s infrastructure needs to be part of the discussion. EV’s are heavy vehicles. Some, like the Tesla truck, offer extender packages for the bed of the truck (more batteries for longer range). This adds even more weight. I’m thinking of bridges, roadways, parking garages, etc that were not built with capacity for everyone driving with much heavier vehicles on a routine basis. This doesn’t even include the added burden to our electrical grid nationwide which in some areas of the country would cause havoc. I like the idea of them. Would be great if they recharged fully while driving, could actually tow an RV of mid to large size beyond one hundred miles, and had better more ecological ways of mining for lithium for the batteries (it’s pretty awful from the videos of the process in Africa) and disposal of said batteries. I see nothing wrong for those who want to buy them. It’s just that consumers should not be FORCED to buy them. They do look like they have major innovations. Tesla definitely seems to be way ahead of the game in the EV market.

Saw one parked at Sams Club today. While beyond ugly but dwarfed vehicles in surrounding spaces - including half ton and 3/4 ton. good to see 4 wheel turn and would need them to negotiate tight parking lot. That full glass roof brought out bad memories from last year in Italy, and luckily with concern about Italian driver stereotypes took out the optional insurance on the rental. Middle of the night had a hail storm with what sounded like baseball size hail at the AirBnB outside Verona. While had major dents and cracked windshield, Hertz couldn't replace it because all their cars were damaged by same storm so drove it to Milan for flight back. Other residents/guest in the AirBnB had far more damage, including busted out windows, in their personal car as they were Europeans. Getting back to Tesla, one guest had friends staying further north at Lake Como where the same storm totally destroyed his glass roof Tesla. Got to the Milan airport, turned in the rental...and owed nothing!

A guy with our same model Brinkley TT is towing it with his CyberTruck and doing all the testing for range, etc. I think he’s consistently gotten about 100 miles with 11k GVWR. He tows with his F350 for longer range trips. Corey, you may be onto something with your idea to tether the RV solar to the vehicle. 🤷‍♀️

@@FindingOurSomeday It would be slow. 2 kilowatts of solar output is under 2% of the Cybertruck's capacity. Over the course of a bright summer day, they would only replace about 10-12% (at best) of the truck's capacity (about 10-12 miles of driving while towing, per your test). Those are some big batteries to charge.

I have air suspension on my '23 Tundra, love it. Love it levels your truck after you hook up your load. But, in that thing. If you run low, you can not just pull into any gas station and fill up. There are so few places to recharge and if you can. Do you want to spend couple of hours recharging? That is one of the things the infrastructure package is supposed to help with. Also the battery companies are not going to get EV going until they get charge times down to 30 minutes or less. Tell me this. If you had to pull in and charge up. Would you buy an EV where very time you had to stop, 2 hours ? Or would you get a gas or hybrid. 5 minutes you are on your way ? I am not dissing EV, just the infrastructure is not there yet. Battery charge times is not there yet. It will be, just not at the moment.

I would like more information on how that cyber track does with towing trailer on hills & mountains. I just cant see it towing anything thru the rocky mountains. I agree, i think around town it would be fine. But in areas of our country that some towns are 100's of miles apart or if you live in rural, back country, you'd have to find a charging station before you could turn around & go home. As well as how the batteries don't do well in cold & extreme heat. More research and refinement needs to be made, as well as the cost needs to come down before most people would buy! But, thanks for your fun video. Beautiful photography!

Others don't recommend towing with the cyber truck unless you want to make a lot of charging stops. There is an electric truck that has enough range for towing. Rivian R1S. Depending on what battery pack you get, you can get 375 to 440 on a charge. Cheaper than the cyber truck. You can go to the rivian factory and they will let you test drive. I think they might let you tow, but one of them would be with you. Problem is, there are hardly any pull through charger stations. You can't charge while driving. Most charging stops are 25 to 40 min up to 80%. Detailed information is on "out of spec" channels on KZbin. The ones will be reviews. The range test, motors. Note: most are between 1 and 2 hours. Some are longer.

Great episode! Nice review on the Cyber Truck. You gave good common sense thoughts on where it can work and where it just isn’t quite ready yet. I love the fact your shirts are a family project and you use your brother’s company to print your them.

A refrigerator on wheels😬 while hooked to your trailer, does the truck have a trailer braking mode (setting) and a similar GM Stabilitrak system🤔 Just think, all wheel steering while backing your camper into a site 😳😎 Truck side view mirrors should be able to slide out more, so you can see 'down" the side of your camper 🤔

Hate is a strong word. The truck is ugly. But if that's what you like, buy it. It's your money. I agree with all your comments. It's not bad for around town or even travel if you factor in the charging time. But towing a heavy trailer, it's not their yet. So for that reason, I'm out. I love my diesel Chevy and the ability to quickly pull into a truck stop, fill up and hit the road. You would have to find me somewhere to park your trailer and disconnect so that you could charge on the road.

This video brought to you by Tesla. The reason the Cybertruck has 4 wheel steer is because without it you wouldn't be able to turn in a normal parking lot. And it isn't like the Cybertruck can turn inside the radius of a normal truck, it may be slightly better, but put a Sierra or F150 in the same parking lot and measure the size of the circle, it isn't a whole lot better. 19 miles of driving and 46 miles of range blows. Trucks don't have 100 mile ranges, and filling them up doesn't take a more than a 5 minutes. The Cybertruck price is failing fast. People that thought they were going to use them for truck things are finding out quick that it makes a poor pickup. The main thing you hear about it is how fast it is, but when someone buys a normal pickup they are not comparing quarter mile ETs, they want to know how much it can tow, how much it can haul, and other normal stats, not it's acceleration on drag strip.

I have seen the Cyber truck several times here in SoCal, and initially, they didn't appeal to me, but I have to say I liked the way it looked with your trailer. I'd like to see what it would look like with my Heartland Bighorn connected. I also think it would be awesome if there was a way to recharge the batteries while traveling.

That's just way cool, but not very practical for full time RVing, like you said. I was impressed with how much cargo space it had. From the outside it doesn't look like it would hold much. Thanks for the FOS review!

That was very interesting. I think it would certainly fail on the road because of the battery and the time to charge. It is ugly too...

Imagine the sales volumes if it just looked more like a "normal" truck. More along the lines, in terms of futuristic styling, of the Ram Revolution, instead of George Jetson's daily.

A couple of thoughts: 1. Today's battery technology is in its infancy and is the worst that it will ever be. Imagine people that laughed at trucks when compared to a horse-drawn wagon back in 1900. 2. In the future, RVs will have a full EV battery pack with an electric motor, so your tow vehicle will just be assisting the trailer, which will be powering itself. Ultimately, the range will equal anything on the road today. Once you get to your destination, you will have that massive battery pack to operate all of your RV electronics. Imagine being able to go off grid with a 10,000 amp hour battery! The EV future will be awesome!

Watkins Glen blew me away, and I must say that you all looked like a million bucks in NYC! What I got a kick out of with the cyber truck was that your girls looked like they shrunk sitting in the backseat! That thing looks very roomy and it's surprising how capable it is. And who knows, maybe it can actually shrink people or time travel or something! I wouldn't be surprised!

To be able to use an EV truck with an RV, the RV would need regenerative braking that would swnd the energy back to the truck. Then your range might be usable.

excellent review. Electric trucks may one day be the tow vehicle of choice, but not today. Range is way too low, and charging stations are just not set up for a truck and trailer combo. Can anyone envision towing for 100 miles and then disconnecting the trailer to be able to access a charger, only to wait 45 mins and then go another 100 miles and repeat. Not likely for me yet anyway. Hopefully they get range up and charging time down, and actually build some charging stations that a tow vehicle/trailer combo can actually access. safe travels....

TFL did a comparison with a cyber truck towing a heavy travel trailer against a diesel towing the same. Cyber truck 78 miles before dead and $35 to recharge. The diesel could triple the range and cost $27 to fill up.

Its a cool concept.. But not for real world application, I don't think it can match up to a diesel. Yes, around town for short hauls maybe. One thing you didn't mention, How long will it take to charge it? I hear it takes a long time to charge.

I have seen extensive reviews on this electric "tuna can" and must admit that it is quite versatile. My only complaint is the same as yours. Who wants to take that long a break to recharge when you have a travel day and 600 miles to cover?

The guys over at TFL trucks did a world toughest tow test with a. Cyber truck. Cyber isn't what it needs to be and after some research. We need to push for a hydrogen powered truck. Better power, torque, mileage and the only thing that comes out the tailpipe is water. But that probably never gonna happen with consumer truck. Big rigs maybe.

I have a diesel 3500 HD for our 5th wheel, a Tesla Model Y for our daily driver. We LOVE our Model Y !!! I placed a reservation for a Cybertruck on day one and it came in a month ago. I Ttst drove a Cybertruck for a day and decided to wait until the lower cost Dual motor version comes out. Cybertruck is a BLAST to drive and super fast! While the Cybertruck has more than enough power for towing, range is a big issue when towing. Until there is pull through charging stations it's almost impossible to tow a heavy trailer and charge at a supercharging station every 120 miles. I believe a hybrid electric diesel is the most practical solution for an electric towing heavy in the future.

Fun video guys. Personally, I wouldn't have a Cybertruck. It doesn't match my needs (range) and I don't care for the design or the stainless exterior. Reminds me of my frdige and it's enough of a chore keeping that looking good. Given your zeal to keep your white GMC clean, I think keeping this truck clean would drive you crazy 🤣 As you suggested, you'd have to get it wrapped.
