Yes, Lady Miss Kier is a true NYC legend and icon! That song was in the clubs as early as '88, I believe. Groove is in the Heart transcends time- it's still so fresh.

The album version was recorded 1990, The song was written late 80s for sure and I think in '89 it was first performed live. But I don't think it was played in the clubs until the album version was produced.. But don't 100% me on that my dude as I done a lot of drugs during my partying youth lol

@@helenHTID Haha! You're awesome- love that. Yes, the late 80's and early 90's blur together for me a bit but not from drug use- I was 8 or 9 when this song dropped- probably gettin high on Pizza and Sega

No disrespect to Bootsy (the legend), but this is just a cameo, and he’s miming. The bass is a sample from Herbie Hancock’s soundtrack to the incredible and trippy film Blowup.

This is what I loved about the 90's is that it was cool to be weird, eccentric and original. This music was so unique that it started the trend in the year of 1990 to create funky 60's and 70's styles into the 90's culture and to make it relevant again. Deelite allowed us to experiment with different sounds and looks. They were awesome. Lady Miss Kier was the bomb.
