It's been remade so many times that it doesn't even resemble the source material anymore. The original was a Japanese film called Seven Samurai and was about a village threatened by bandits who hire seven samurai to come defend them. There have since been many iterations on the theme, including a sci-fi space themed movie, and, believe it or not, A Bugs Life.

My partner and I went to see this in theaters. During the opening scene I gasped quietly "Matt Bomer? Oh, he's gonna die". My partner leans over and asks "How do you know he's gonna die? Nothing's even happened yet!" and I tell him "Because that's Matt Bomer and he wasn't in any of the trailers or on the posters! He's gonna die!" Three minutes later he whispers "Oh my god, you were right" 😂
