I was acquainted with Jeff Burr. He lived and taught filmmaking classes in my hometown, although I never took his course, I met him through mutual people. We talked about the Puppet Master franchise a few times, he was proud of his work. I had not spoken to him in a while, and found out a few days ago he passed. He loved movies and everything about them and he was a lovely soul.

When you talked about the foolishness of putting an angry person Into a robot body with guns I half expected a cut away to the episode of Aqua Team Hunger Force where Frylock destroys their angry neighbor from the neck down and, among other attempts at giving him a new body, he builds a robot body with guns. His (normally) idiotic roommate asks why on earth he would do that, and Frylock suddenly has the good sense to do not do that. More sense than the Old Pupper Master it seems.

Maybe because of the first video, but I went on a Full Moon kick and just recently watched Head of the Family, Blood Dolls, and The Creeps. Aside from their leisurely pace, they are fun and strange and campy, and I like the weird storylines. I'm planning on watching the Killjoy series as the later ones look goofy, but a killer demon clown made me think of Terrifier. A super low budget movie that created a huge success from the spectacular gore. When I watch Full Moon, I forget that they technically do horror movies because there's so little blood (or scares at all) and whether Charles Band has shot himself in the foot by sticking his nose up at what audiences enjoy so much.

They didn't care that much for the first, and knowing them I guess they haven't even bothered to watch a trailer for this one.
@ImNotGregGraffin3 сағат бұрын
@@Jean-Paul-Lane-Valley Yeah, but I’m still interested in what they have to say about the new one. It blew my mind that they hated Halloween Kills but really liked Halloween Ends. I really didn’t expect that. Plus, they’re plenty to talk about with the decisions of the film, the reception and DC/Warner Bros. and all that I just think it would make an interesting video of discussion. More interesting than the film itself
@Jean-Paul-Lane-Valley2 сағат бұрын
@@ImNotGregGraffin - I agree, the discussion surrounding the film fits the whole thing they do on HitB. My bets are that Jay will possibly hatewatch it on Max eventually and Mike won't.
@asmodiusjones95632 сағат бұрын
@@Jean-Paul-Lane-Valleythis is true, but another thing I don’t see mentioned that much is their HitB is much less interesting when they don’t have the full movie to pull clips from and have to rely exclusively on footage from the trailer. For the past few years when everyone was released on streaming simultaneously, they’d have the full movie for most of what they talked about, even new releases. Now that productions are going back to theaters exclusively they don’t have the movie to pull clips from.

While they're not "Good" per se, i do appreciate Jeff Burr doing everything he can to liven up 4 & 5. Really great schlock-jobber. Do wonder if his career trajectory ends up a *little* better if New Line doesnt meddle with Chainsaw Massacre 3 Edit: Also I'm kind of baffled by how bad the new "Hellboy" looks. Brian Taylor has made some good stuff, both on his own and when he was teamed with Marc Neveldine, but then Neil Marshall said the current rights holders are basically scumbags so 🤷

Even though most coherent continuity was tossed, PM4 & 5 get credit for at least maintaining that Leech Woman was gone (burned in PM2). And you’re right about the soundtrack; 4 & 5 have no new music, only reused cues from the first 3 (to be fair, PM3 also reused music, but did have a few original compositions as well).

Stretching one movie into multiple sequels to make more money? Sounds like something that only a very low-budget mostly independent production would have to do. It sure would be crazy if extremely high-profile studios with eight- and nine-digit budgets did the same thing with gigantic special effects blockbusters.

I love 4 and 5, but CURSE and RETRO are in my opinion the last good entries in this series. After this is mediocre to bad. 6 gets a lot of crap itself, but it was the first one I ever saw, so I've always had kind of a soft spot for it. I actually didn't like RETRO much at first, since it was the second one I saw, and almost the complete opposite of CURSE. But it grew on me with repeated viewings, and is a nice origin story.
