Despite being an overt skeptic, Rich has a great approach to ghost hunting - very methodical and smart. 1) Streamer paper, to eliminate false positives 2) Instead of asking about the murders constantly, he tried to relate to the father with baseball 3) Trying to amuse and entertain the ghost children with something they've not seen yet. To me, it's like Rich was born to be a ghost investigator, but his logical mind just doesn't let him believe in it all.

I choose to believe Rich Evans playing 'baby shark' gave those children spirits their first connection with chilldhood joy in over a hundred years, freeing their tether to the mortal plane, and granting them peace. One might say, he's the "Shark Exorcist"

As someone who watches a lot of these paranormal shows on youtube and other networks, somehow you guys caught just as much evidence as a typical ghost hunting episode and yet the completely non-sensationalized delivery made it feel way more compelling. Wish all paranormal channels would ditch the endless build-ups and creepy music and just present the investigation as truthfully as possible.

But he *wants* to believe. He is biased. A skeptic would be trying to explain certain phenomena by looking at the evidence and drawing rational conclusions. In his mind, there is always the question "was it ghosts?" In reality, the evidence would have to be insanely strong for a scientist and skeptic to even consider the explanation is ghosts. It's no surprise the there are no real scientific studies about ghosts. But it is very entertaining and I love these stupid ghost detection gadgets.

You provided an honest look at how dishonest ghost hunting programs and investigators are, gave an objective rundown of how the "equipment" works and provided a real example of a false positive, explored the psychological bias inherent in looking for something you want to exist, and still provided a couple uncanny things that may potentially be worth looking at. Completely agree. That particle in the children’s room where it floats down and touches the antenna of the device just as it goes off is probably one of the most compelling pieces of paranormal activity that I have ever seen. I want more. God I miss when Ghost Hunters on syfy started in the 2000s, before the ghost craze. Their whole shtick was going around haunted places debunking ghosts by double checking the real history, the plumbing, and looking for bad electrical wires effecting people brains (it's the whole reason EMFs are used in ghost hunting still, despite it being used first to debunk ghosts by looking for bad wiring that gives off strong emfs that can effect the brain with panic or even hallucinations). But then the dark times came, when they found out they make more money pretending to be scared.

Ghosthunters always seem to think that the killer is haunting a house even though the killer got away and presumedly lived for many years afterward, possibly very far away from where the killings happened (and may have killed various other people in different locations). It'd be much more likely for just the family themselves to be haunting their own house, in which case, they probably wouldn't be up in the attic unless they had spent a lot of time up in the attic before. The killer's the one who supposedly hid up in the attic, but he wouldn't be haunting the attic just because he was up there once for maybe a few hours, long before he actually died. He'd more likely be haunting the house he actually lived in.

@johnplaysgames3120
@johnplaysgames3120 Ай бұрын
@@GraphiteShores This = true. Several Halloweens ago, my gf and her friend went on (and paid an ungodly amount for) a "ghost hunting" evening revolving around the Manson Family murders. The guy running the "ghost hunt" lived in the same neighborhood where the Tate house was but, unfortunately for him, the people who owned the property where the murders happened had it all fenced off to stop people from trespassing on their property to look for ghosts. Fortunately for him, the ghosts of the murder victims apparently decided to start haunting **his** house. What luck! He got to host the whole "ghost hunt" that people paid for at his house (except for one part, where they went outside and he pointed at the fence around the property where the murders happened). What evidence was there of haunting in this guy's not-the-Tate-house house, you may ask? Well, let me tell you: People heard a door close by itself in the next room when nobody was looking at it (and when the guy's roommate was out of the room where everybody was hanging out) and the guests -- a whole group of people who REALLY wanted to believe -- went wild bc this was obviously evidence of the restless ghost of one of the murder victims. My gf said the people in the group talked about their "paranormal experience" with the door for the rest of the night. The fact that they weren't even on the property where the murders happened doesn't seem to have raised red flags for anyone. Neither did the fact that, according to my gf, the guy running the "ghost hunt" kept dipping out of the room to go snort coke, then would come back all wired up to continue the "ghost hunt." Also, to add on to your original point: People have died pretty much everywhere. If a believer (or a faker) caught "evidence" at a location that didn't have a reputation for being haunted, they'd still just say that there are ghosts everywhere. No one who is determined to believe in something is ever going to be convinced of anything other than what they're already determined to believe in.

I know this goes without saying, but the design of the Ovilus and spirit box don't make any sense except to exploit human psychology and our desperate need to draw patterns. The choice of words in the Ovilus dictionary alone is so biased as to make it totally useless. It should have the full English dictionary, and the algorithm for choosing words should be revealed. The spirit box would actually be useful if it stopped hopping frequencies when it detected power so you could listen to that channel for a while, instead it purposefully scrolls through AM radio stations so you just hear half a sentence from random conversations leaving your imagination to fill in the blanks. I don't believe in ghosts nor think they could be detected with RF equipment, but it is frustrating that the sensing equipment is exploitative and created in bad faith. Thank you for listening to my Ted talk.

Rich, the skeptic: "I thought you might like baseball, so I'll read you the latest scores." "Here's a song you kids might like." Mike, the believer: "I think you're scum! Obviously you're a coward."

I'm confused by Mike, is he taunting the murder's ghost, or the victim's? I don't think the murderer's ghost would be anywhere near there.

It would be neat to see you guys do this once every year. I think the views are there, and really whatever you folks do is entertaining. Mike was so driven, I'd certainly watch more.

I don't think a single person would be upset if you guys continue doing these types of investigations. I'm kind of impressed how being open and honest about everything made otherwise inconsequential occurrences seem interesting. Like the dust or a few of the Ovilus words, despite that box's shady reputation

This was legitimately great. The light into the top of the antenna and responses to Freddie were genuinely intriguing. Would love another investigation where you go in with more confidence and as prepared as you want to be. I am disappointed the spirit box didn't say Aids though.

I really like Rich's "read modern baseball statistics" idea. I wanna use that in a story or a tabletop game now, it totally makes sense that a ghost who was a sports lover might recognize words about a topic they spent days and days talking, thinking, and reading about.
