Despite being an overt skeptic, Rich has a great approach to ghost hunting - very methodical and smart. 1) Streamer paper, to eliminate false positives 2) Instead of asking about the murders constantly, he tried to relate to the father with baseball 3) Trying to amuse and entertain the ghost children with something they've not seen yet. To me, it's like Rich was born to be a ghost investigator, but his logical mind just doesn't let him believe in it all.

Ghosthunters always seem to think that the killer is haunting a house even though the killer got away and presumedly lived for many years afterward, possibly very far away from where the killings happened (and may have killed various other people in different locations). It'd be much more likely for just the family themselves to be haunting their own house, in which case, they probably wouldn't be up in the attic unless they had spent a lot of time up in the attic before. The killer's the one who supposedly hid up in the attic, but he wouldn't be haunting the attic just because he was up there once for maybe a few hours, long before he actually died. He'd more likely be haunting the house he actually lived in.

The thing that nobody thinks about is if ghosts exist, literally BILLIONS of them have to exist, many times more than currently exist alive, and probably thousands of them in one location. As others have said, I honestly would really love if you guys did this in a completely normal house with no reputation of being haunted. That's something ghost shows never do, because it would likely show the coincidental nature of any strange phenomenon.
@GraphiteShoresАй бұрын
True believers would then look for ANY 'odd' incident or even JUST an incident to justify the confirmation bias. Doesn't even need to be the house itself, it could be all the way across town and they would use that to justify the odd behavior.
@johnplaysgames3120Ай бұрын
@@GraphiteShores This = true. Several Halloweens ago, my gf and her friend went on (and paid an ungodly amount for) a "ghost hunting" evening revolving around the Manson Family murders. The guy running the "ghost hunt" lived in the same neighborhood where the Tate house was but, unfortunately for him, the people who owned the property where the murders happened had it all fenced off to stop people from trespassing on their property to look for ghosts. Fortunately for him, the ghosts of the murder victims apparently decided to start haunting **his** house. What luck! He got to host the whole "ghost hunt" that people paid for at his house (except for one part, where they went outside and he pointed at the fence around the property where the murders happened). What evidence was there of haunting in this guy's not-the-Tate-house house, you may ask? Well, let me tell you: People heard a door close by itself in the next room when nobody was looking at it (and when the guy's roommate was out of the room where everybody was hanging out) and the guests -- a whole group of people who REALLY wanted to believe -- went wild bc this was obviously evidence of the restless ghost of one of the murder victims. My gf said the people in the group talked about their "paranormal experience" with the door for the rest of the night. The fact that they weren't even on the property where the murders happened doesn't seem to have raised red flags for anyone. Neither did the fact that, according to my gf, the guy running the "ghost hunt" kept dipping out of the room to go snort coke, then would come back all wired up to continue the "ghost hunt." Also, to add on to your original point: People have died pretty much everywhere. If a believer (or a faker) caught "evidence" at a location that didn't have a reputation for being haunted, they'd still just say that there are ghosts everywhere. No one who is determined to believe in something is ever going to be convinced of anything other than what they're already determined to believe in.

I know this goes without saying, but the design of the Ovilus and spirit box don't make any sense except to exploit human psychology and our desperate need to draw patterns. The choice of words in the Ovilus dictionary alone is so biased as to make it totally useless. It should have the full English dictionary, and the algorithm for choosing words should be revealed. The spirit box would actually be useful if it stopped hopping frequencies when it detected power so you could listen to that channel for a while, instead it purposefully scrolls through AM radio stations so you just hear half a sentence from random conversations leaving your imagination to fill in the blanks. I don't believe in ghosts nor think they could be detected with RF equipment, but it is frustrating that the sensing equipment is exploitative and created in bad faith. Thank you for listening to my Ted talk.
