Very impressed that you pointed to Lochnagar from the top of Ben Macdui and said “That’s where we were yesterday.” If I’d been up Lochnagar I’d be taking a week off to recover, never mind going up Ben Macdui the next day.

Stunning film. I've overnighted many times down at the Shelterstone, the first half dozen times sleeping under the more open boulders. I can confirm that worrying about being squashed by the boulder does indeed keep one awake at night, as do rodents going through food bags. The final straw was finding one of the wee feckers floating face up in an open carton of milk I had just drunk from...camped in tents thereafter!

"Let's quickly grab some water" .... Said no one in the tropical forest here in Costa Rica :) ..... unless you drink it through a Life Straw or boil it. Else a Xenomorph alien chest-burster might find it's way inside .... I remember though I was doing the same back in Europe ... those crystal clear mountain waters are nice !!!! But seriously, here even my dogs end up at the vet sometimes after drinking from random forest streams :O You have some nice places there to ride there! :)

Yeah, same here in Antigua and Barbuda.....Pond/hill water.......errr only for the brave. Too many parasites. Used to do a fair amount of hill walking and camping in Scotland back in the 80s, and great to see so much in effect safe, wilderness and and watercourses......The Torridons are defo on the bucket list though. Another fine video McT. 10/10....again.

Awesome to see you riding around all the crags where I go rock climbing / winter climbing (which feel less scary to me than trying to ride some of those descents on a bike!). There's an even bigger shelterstone in that giant pile of boulders under the main cliff - can fit about 10 people in it at a squeeze. Also wondering if you took a look at the granite slabs up to the left at 14:53 or so - there's a grade 1 scramble up there (Feith Buidhe Slabs) that might make for a Cairngorms alternative to Danny M's video on Skye.

You said you're were going continue from MacDui and I thought you were maybe going to do the big loop around Glen Feshie (big day that is). Then I was, god no, not Loch Avon. I know it's a pretty big carry up towards Cairngorm. On the other hand I get a rush from that impulse for an unplanned epic and drop down the other side of a mountain. I've ridden down to Loch Etchachan to bag Beinn Mheadhoin (left the bike at the loch) and pushed back to Macdui. Get that great descent on the end that way. I used your final descent as an alternative ascent to Macdui. I didn't think it would make a descent but then I don't have your skills. Cracking video again. Really does the landscape justice.
