We had a bread bin for years but like your kitchen ours isn’t that big and with investing in a Air flyer (best thing we ever brought), Microwave, Kettle and our knifes set we only got enough room now to prep food and make drinks. When we moved in the only new things we had was a bed, Washer/dryer and a fridge/freezer. A lot of things were hand me downs or 2nd hand. 1 tip we did do for a sofa was opt for the interest free deals.

14:56 I dunno if it's weird, but I did went to the IKEA before the autumnholidays. Actually, just far enough from when all the new students go living in a room in the city. I did find everything I wanted. Well. I would want some products in another colour. Or on this cupholder I found I wixhed the screw-on thing was black and not 'silvercolour'. But I got every I wanted that they can deliver at this point in time. I even found a carpet that wasn't on my list for a good price. Good luck with it all. At the very least what you've got now will keep you busy for a while.

Well that is the first time we have seen inside an IKEA, I have bought 1 item the cake dome I saw in the Cafe set up via mail order but never actually been. I think Jamie Oliver and Jeremy Hunt must manage portion sizes and profit margins in the cafe, but it's great fun seeing you start to get things sorted in your home. Hope to see a few quirky things too along the way, perhaps you have some nice and fairly priced independent places you can pop into for ideas closer to home.

Shawn and Charlotte, We got lots of good things at the garage sales and thrift stores ,of course Ikea is attractive and convenient, but it can add up . Our cross the street neighbor back in N.J., furnished theeir whole home pretty much with garage sale items and it looked great!, but he had the time. I suspect you really don't have the time to do that, so this is an excellent alternative. Cheers, Rik

Defo research the best beds to buy and consider spending top of your budget. With beds you get what you pay for and you are in your bed every night. They are used a lot and need to look after your back and neck. Plus quality sleep is essential.

Good Luck in your new home and best wishes to the both of you. Must say I’m not a fan of bread bins they just end up being storage for things other than bread and take up way too much work space. A helpful hint but obviously is down to personal choice, when starting out in a new home it’s always handy to support your local charity stores and can even ask them to keep items in mind for you. This helps save money by allowing you to save up for items in the long run as you can always replace furniture with new items over a period of time whilst supporting your small charities and businesses. It’s great fun and gives a sense of achievement. P.S I also started out with dinning chairs in my front room, unfortunately once I got my sofa I had to return them back to my sisters dinning table. Whatever you decide, have fun and keep on shopping

My wife took me to IKEA for the first time thirty years ago and I vowed never again. Not a place for me, though their meatballs are excellent. 😂 Kitting out a new home is such fun. I remember doing it forty years. Your final bill must have been massive. Though the funniest moment was Shawn’s reaction to “shall we get a bread bin”. “Why, don’t you just put it in the cupboard”. 😂

I have actually never been to an ikea, really want to though I’m adding an extra to the list of bread storage haha, a bread storage tube, you put the bread in the bag into the tube, fold the plastic over the top, and then pull down the plastic and the bread pops up haha. It comes with a lid so it’s all covered
