He’s misinformed. The Def Dept was asked to provide force on the Pak side of Tora Bora and Rumsfeld refused that how Bin Laden escaped the Jaw breaker and No. Alliance team. We went to Iraq because of Cheney, Wolfawitz, Pearl and Dave Wormser. They were talking Iraq on 9/12. It was also a way to attempt Iran to fold. Iran was shook when we went into Afghanistan and was copping pleas that the Bush admin didn’t want to hear because they felt Iraq would fall into our sphere of influence in a matter of months.

Fast forward, we were lied to and feel it was all for a different agenda. No one can bring back my battle buddies that paid the ultimate sacrifice. Nothing will erase the nightmares and PTSD. When I was growing up in the 80s and 90s I thought joining the military was the most honorable action a man could ever do. All my uncles, both my grandfathers and my father were all vets. I knew that I was going to join as soon as I was old enough. I graduated and married my high-school sweetheart. I then went to the recruiter and low and behold it was a close family friend. He talked me out of joining. It was the such a good decision. I thank God that man was there and not someone who didn't care. Our government and military are now a joke. I respect our vets but hate what the government has become and what it does to them. I ended generations of military service for my family and my own sons will not join either because we haven't been involved in a just war in a long time.

@clintleffingwell81292 жыл бұрын
Very similar story here. As I neared the end of high school in the late 80's, I was thinking of joining the military or applying to one of the military academies. My dad, who was an Army officer during the Vietnam era, told me "Son, politicians have a knack for killing young Americans". I am so glad that I made different life choices, because things are just not the same as when my dad and uncle served during the Vietnam era, or when my grandfathers and great uncles served during WWII. I still hold the individual solider, sailor, or airman who tries to serve their country in a place of highest honor; but also recognize the reality that our government and military/industrial complex are simply exploiting those patriots for their own selfish ends.

The US Govt has always been a joke and none of the wars we've been in were necessary.
@joeanonymous18342 жыл бұрын
Yes, well, here's the real truth: We get the government we deserve. Paraphrasing the Founders, a republic like ours can only work if there is an educated, engaged and virtuous citizenry. I'm not sure we've had that in 200-years. Perhaps the Union during the the Civil War. When grown men are more concerned with, and know more about, the next NFL Draft than the next election, never mind the philosophical underpinnings of the United States of America, this is what you get. And your "just war"--all of you too wise to have served and that have convinced you sons of the same--may well be sooner than you think. I'm an ex-Force Recon guy. If what I recently saw on MCRD San Diego, at a young cousin's graduation, is any indication--we're in big trouble. There's this metastasizing monstrosity called the "People's Republic of China." The US had no business being in Iraq. I always thought it was about Bush trying to one up his father or about Cheney making money for his former company, Halliburton. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 or weapons of mass destruction. Total BS. How many lives were lost or destroyed and how much money was wasted because we had idiots in charge. At the time speaking out about the war was considered unpatriotic and would be met with anger by idiot warmongers. I'm sorry for everyone who served there and have physical or psychological wounds. Damn, even Cheney bought himself a new heart. He was over the age by many years. I’m Canadian and we said no to going to Iraq. All of a sudden we weren’t listed as “friends” anymore when others were listed, lol. I’m glad they’re having such a problem recruiting but hey, they’ll just draft people. I hope you are ok. Mentally and physically. I was in a private hospital for ptsd, live in for 2 months and got to know and hear stories so horrifying and I know I only felt 0.0000000001% of what they re-living. Now that you know, tell it to everybody. You did what they made you think was right. And lied. And lied, and….

I’m so happy that Joe B is branching out beyond music and entertainment - he has a great interview style that makes it easy for people to talk and he manages to ask interesting questions. Sorry but Joe B is about as interesting an interviewer as my left foot. I just found out about him today and he is so boring and barely engaging or eliciting anything compelling from this interview. Ron Oneal is offering everything with no coaxing.
@user-user-user-user.2 жыл бұрын
@@sangeli1901 That’s because Rob is on autopilot. Rob has sold his narrative and his personae so what you are seeing here is a man that is so used to self promotion he fails to make his story as engaging as it used to be. Joe B comes at things from a different angle - one of suspicion and curiosity.

So I served in the army for 7 years. Went to Afghanistan in 2012 and since have had a hard time not feeling like there is so much bullshit in it all disguised as patriotism. And any difference of opinion is viewed as un-American. Now I have my own radio show in the Carolina's and Ive been debating sharing my opinion. But I dont think I'm debating anymore

Eff the voters. What a stupid thing to say...especially by someone who calls themselves a war vet. Take some accountability, no one forced you to sign up and join the military. I spent 8 years in the 82nd 1st/504th. I was in Columbus GA in reception at Benning about 5 weeks after I graduated high school. Deployed plenty of times during OIF and OEF. That being said while I whole heartedly believe that my friends died for absolutely nothing. Full stop. Granted it made me who I am today and certainly by 2012 I had experienced a wide array of things most people in this country only experience through video games and movies. But at the end of the day the 1% got wealthier and men who on their worst day were the types of individuals that only the 1% could dream of being, never came home. No one wins. I can identify with what Rob says about thinking that we’re always the good guys and doing the right thing, if anything 04-12 opened my eyes at a relatively young age to how immense wealth can at times create exponentially more evil individuals with malicious intent than any militant religious group.
