One of the coolest stories from this mission was when the first Seals who made it to the ship made contact with the pirates at the boat to drop off food and water, they called out a slightly coded, "Hey Captain, don't worry the 'guys from Virginia Beach are here". He said the captains whole demeanor changed.

I respect Rob and his team. These stories are very important to hear. Not what you see in movies but the real heroes who risk their lives to save others because they took an oath. This just made the movie 1,000x better. I want to hear more stories like this from real people who went into the belly of the beast and walked out. Much love and respect Rob.

I like the word he used, "fantail" to refer to the back of the ship. My great grandfather and grandfather were both steam and diesel towboat (respectively) pilots on the inland waterways of the Eastern United States (Mississippi, Ohio, and tributaries) and the word comes from the days when there was a paddlewheel (the "fan") at the stern of the boat. The fantail was the area supporting the shaft of the paddlewheel (usually with walkways built into it, so the "striker" (oil crew) could go out and lubricate the bearings and the carpenter could do wheel repairs). It's nice to know that this obsolete term is still in use in nautical work, military or otherwise. I know there's older terms even than that, from the Age of Sail, but it's nice to know there's vocabulary relics of the later, but still significant, steam era. Boat handling, of any size, is dangerous and precision work, with a long tradition behind it, hence the specialized vocabulary. (The Inland Waterway steam era also has terms borrowed not from ocean-going maritime work, but from the farms where many steamboat crew members were born). My other grandfather taught physics to Navy cadets during WWII, called "90 Day Wonders", before they shipped out to be part of engineering battalions in both the European and Pacific theaters. So although my family's wartime service tended to be civilian, we still had roles to play in keeping the country working, and our military trained. So proud of the United States Navy.

You don't need to be a seal or seal training to see someones demeanor when hes alll about the money. This dude fits the profile. @@ShutTheFuckUp1987 Ex army here,a little food for you ok. Im sure you seen the movie 12 strong. Did you know it took over 12 years to make that movie. Why? THEY WAITED for everything to get declassified first. My old unit took pride in the capture of saddam but really it was delta that got him out of the hole and our unit escorted him. Just last year I found out who that delta operator was by the name of Tom Satterly. More impressive, when he told that story the first thing he mention was the support unit that was on the ground that day. Not him taking down saddam. You see where im going with this? Did you even know that it was Delta that got saddam? I only clicked on this video because it was short and wanted to see how much he likes talking about himself. Hey dude is a bigger bad ass than a lot of people like you and me but I served. Made e-5 in two years with 2 deployments. I forsure know that other than his military skills he aint got shit on me. If you think that the Navy wasn't pressing him to write a book, help with the movie, and promote the killing of the greatest terrorist of all time, you are a fool. He had two choices. Either let someone else on the team do it, or do it himself. Why let someone else get that extra cash? Even though he was a Chief in the Navy, its not like he made that much money. He risked everything (as did his teammates and more), so it doesn't bother me if he cashes it in. As long as he isn't compromising security and tactics, I really don't give a shit. All of these war stories DRIVE more and more young men to join up and that only makes us better as a fighting force. Every generation has their books/movies that make them want to join. This is just another in a long line of books/movies that continue that trend.

@@burbsl1672 I was impressed by this guy at first, but then I remembered these seal guys swear to secrecy and I remembered hearing about how there were seals angry at this guy for claiming he killed osama and telling about their mission in the first place. Apparently he didn’t actually kill osama, he fired over his dead body, and a lot of other fabrications. Think this guy is in it for the fame at this point. He certainly is on adderall here too.

Bro all those seals are heroes. But I swear I saw a picture of somebody that was on the most right after this happened and that lifeboat was riddled with bullets. I want to hear somebody address that how did that happen. There used to be a picture of that lifeboat tied up to a pier 3:54 on the internet now when I look I can't find it. Things that make you Go hmmm.

@@scarecrowman7789 good point, SAS are certainly badass, and more exclusive with only about 500 or so badged operators, as opposed to the SEALS who have like 8000. A similar sized force of regular SEALS would certainly meet their match at the hands of the SAS. But SEAL team 6, I'd say are on par or even more elite than the SAS. But a lot of that had to do with training with the SAS when they started shifting from maritime and coastal activities when the war on terror started? So it's hard to say. But one thing is for sure, they are allies, and I pity anybody that stands in the way of any of their objectives.

@@BOOSETO well said. I believe delta and seal training is based off of SAS. I think around the world SAS are seen as more elite soldiers but American having more funding and better weaponry.

Sometimes you wonder if this guy is full of sh**, he was there rescuing captain Philip's, rescuing Marcus Luttrell, yada yada. Then as someone who was US Special Operation Forces (2007-2014) I remind myself, the POTUS Obama had hand picked his team to go kill the final bossman (Osama Bin Laden). Only the best of the best, of the bestest will get that mission. For those who weren't military let me put Navy Seals, and Delta force in perspective. You need a high Combat fight IQ, and damn good genetics to become those. They are literally the Michael Jordans, Stephan Curry's, Lebron James, Larry Birds, Kobe, Shaq of the military. Although I was in Special Operations my body genetics would not allow me to become a navy seal. I obviously had the mental ability, but my body type would not be able to sustain the coldness of the water as my body fat ratio would likely result in me always getting hypothermia. My command wanted me to be at around 185 lbs, as I was 6'0", but I was actually 160 lbs wet. I was far to skinny.
