Before anything gets out of control, exotic cats (caracals, servals, etc.) do NOT make good pets. Nor do anteaters 😅 They were only attending the show for educational purposes, so we had a perfect opportunity to teach viewers about these incredible animals 🥰

I did enjoy watching this! I think you should focus on reptiles for new products, as that is your audience and the reptiles need the representation as opposed to dogs and cats - though I love them and did enjoy seeing the cutie pies you petted! The seminars would be interesting too, for those who can't get there.

Thank you for putting this out there! I clicked ready to have to make some comments. When I interned at Nashville Zoo, I talked at baby feedings and you would not believe the amount of people who think a clouded leopard would make a great pet. Like yeah a full grown female is only 35-40 pounds (males about 45-55) but these guys have canines almost the size of tigers. Nursery staff have had claws of 2-3 month olds go through compression socks.
@Rkt2068 ай бұрын
Its too bad you cant edit the video to say any of this for people who don't read the comments. It honestly sounded like the woman who was showing you them was promoting getting these animals by encouraging me to do my research, before go ahead and adopt my own. I'm sure there is context missing but you have a lot of young and impressionable viewers who will not understand that. You are at a pet expo.

It’s nice to have a sneak peek at products before they’re officially released so I’ll know the best ones to look out for in the future 😊 seeing new, innovative stuff like that brings a whole new level of excitement to the hobby. Also, about the enclosure that was briefly shown with a sliding knob rather than a lock; I’ve had an enclosure like that for my ball python for years now, and it’s great. There are no turning pieces or plastic bits to wear down over time. It’s much simpler than having to keep up with the key to a proper lock, especially for someone with a busy schedule or anyone who misplaces things easily. I highly recommend them

love these kind of video! the only concern i have is highlighting those in the more "exotic" pet trade without proper disclaimers about how 9 times out of 10 they're not suitable as good pets. oh course there was that small disclaimer at the end with the serval, but i definitely think there needs to be more clear discouragement. you're pretty good on this about reptiles - you've always shown how keeping an alligator as a pet isn't a good idea - but i think a lot more needs to go into the more "popular" exotic pets that people like to buy and abuse when they cant care for them correctly, like the felines and foxes and the sort. that's my only concern! otherwise, very happy with this kind of content

I was thinking this too. The amount of exotic pets sold every year is increasing because of viral videos driving demand. And of course the majority of these animals are not well cared for 😢 People impluse buy animals because they look cute in videos but are not prepared for how difficult it is to actually care for a wild animal.

Watching from Western Australia here and I absolutely adore the videos you and Ed put out. The shows are a great way to educate the associated products with keeping and breeding reptiles. I don't think you need to focus on unrelated animal products. The exotic pets, there aren't enough plugging other businesses and rescues associated, this is a great option you have included.

being a cat person I feel the need to re-emphasize that servals and carcals are *not* pets. Servals have territories of 4-12 miles in the wild, caracals have a minimum territory size of 22 miles in the wild and many have territories much larger. They should never be kept in homes or by private keepers. This is not a "do your research" situation, this is a "don't do it" situation.

Servals are terrible pets. Servals and Asian Leopard Cats and Caracals, and their hybridized versions, are at the TOP of surrendered/abandoned felines. Many vets nationwide who work with dogs and cats will turn you away if you bring in a Savannah because it is a wild animal. PLEASE don't make more - I volunteer at a rescue and it is heart-wrenching what they go through in the pet trade! Even the lady herself said it was common for the moms to eat the young, please don't support the wildcat pet trade because they are NOT designed to thrive in captivity. Edit: I did mean percentage. They aren't likely to have a happy ending in private homes.

My favorite thing about these types of videos is seeing live animals (of all sorts including inverts) and having the vendors talk about them! A close second is talking to vendors about their products. ...so I guess talking to vendors in general is my favorite part of these videos. In my opinion it's probably best to mostly stick with exotics (I'd count birds in that group even though they're more common as pets than other reptiles), since there's already a lot of coverage about cat and dog stuff. But if you find any particularly interesting products for dogs and/or cats (like that little robot you took a video of) I'd like to see those too! Of course these are just my personal opinions, fwiw I'm not a business owner or even an exotic pet owner, I'm just an autistic zoology nerd.

Personally, I wouldn’t be fussed about the cat and dog items (because there are SO many videos and other information about them already). But, I am biased because I am an advocate for correct keeping of guinea pigs, I would love to see more on small animals and birds because they (like reptiles) always get looked over and the care/equipment/enrichment/cages sold by the larger companies never meet the requirements for the animal. So it would be great to see the innovations coming out for them too.

I think a Snake Discover podcast would be an amazing idea! You could talk about specific species of snakes and their morphs and where they come from. It could be like an internet zoo exhibit. You could do interviews with other breeders, like the ones you talk to at conventions and get their takes on the reptile world in more depth than you can put in a youtube video. It would be great to use it as a spotlight for endangered species as well. There's a lot of details that you can put in a podcast that you don't have time for in your normal content because you have to squeeze in time for all the animals you feature.
