I observed the same thing with our Shiba, that if you pushed through the tantrum he would eventually calm down. He gave you more warnings than our guy. After one warning chop at the instrument of inspection, the next one would be at your hand. He really could be a little turd at times. I miss him dearly. This, it’s like people who get high-energy dogs and then rarely walk them because they’re “too tired”……my ex keeps his dog in a cage all day and takes her out once a day for a pee……it’s a german shepherd, those dogs NEED ample time outside 😞
@paulveenvliet913056 минут бұрын
@@kitten4115 yeah, I have a Dutch shepherd myself, that has a similar temperament. Every day (regardless of the weather), we are out for 1-2 hours. Mostly just walking, but in between small training exercises. Just simple things like coming on command, laying down and waiting. I'd like to do more, but if I see her calm behaviour indoors, this is enough. And like this there is no need for a crate.

By the time I had gotten my dog from the pound she was already antagonistic to the idea of brushing. I tried everything: combs, massage mitts, "gentle" brushes - even going so far as trying a courser washcloth (she's very short hair - thankfully). Nope. You'd think I was trying to skin her alive.

My first dog, a Border Collie/Shepherd cross, was a very scared dog (the entire litter was and today I wouldn't get a puppy from that litter, but im very glad i did)- she was scared of baths, getting her nails clipped, and car rides.. I'll just talk about the bath issue now- every day i would put her in the tub, turn on the water a bit and play with toys and give treats..no bath, no getting her wet..after a few weeks she enjoyed getting in the tub- then I added getting her wet- did that for a few more weeks and added some shampoo on her legs only...after a few more weeks we worked out way up to weekly baths (still playing in the tub several times a week) and it wasn't long before she'd jump in by herself and love her bath time fun- sure this was a lot of work for a few months but made the next 14 years so much easier...fyi did similar things with the car and her nails- by the time she was a year she was so good and easy- she became an Agility champion and was a pet therapy dog for more than 8 years..im now in my 3rd dog (30 yrs later) and he is also very easy and really well behaved (we do argue sometimes though)

This is exactly what is needed. Back when my mother got her first rottweiler, she took her to a trainer. She wanted to make sure since the dog was a breed that could be dangerous if it wasn't trained, and since she had no experience with, that would be best. The trainer taught her many helpful things like, always touch their paws as a puppy and hold on to them so they are used to you touching them. Same with ears, etc. Always take their food from them as they eat so they learn this is allowed and they don't get upset and growl. It has worked on every dog she had, and I had as well, since then. My mom isn't the best at training a dog, but little things like this she remembered and continued to use. (wish this worked on cats lol)

His anxiety and stress are very real and you adapted the equipment you used and gave him time/breaks. But also, he has learned that putting up a fuss gets the people around him to stop and he doesn't get the care and grooming he very much needs. With Zeus and with many others you walk that line between pushing into uncomfortable but not making the pup feel unsafe. Meaning you pushed through his anxiety to complete the groom(he was uncomfortable) but you gave him the breaks he needed and adapted the equipment you used, telling him that you saw and respected his needs so he could feel safe ❤❤❤

Oh wow, what a wonderful job you did. Zeus reminds me of my Kilou, who was a Shiba Inu and Chow Chow.

I've seen so many of your videos and I know how patient you can be, but wow... I was anxious just by watching this dog. Awesome work as usual, ty for the video!

Watching this video is very cool. It's like the "parents" of this dog can actually see just how their "furbaby" behaves at the groomer! No lies were told in this video!😂❤😂😊❤

Whoever created this breed is insanely cruel and irresponsible.

You are amazing! Keep up the good work. People who have to comment on you getting 'cheap views' to keep grooming a terrified pet do not watch your video's on the regular or listen to the explanations you give during your video's. They are not aware of what a good person you truly are. Good on you for doing your best for every single pet you groom or try to groom (if they let you).

Bravo Vanessa for seeing it through & for being so in-tune to Zeus & his needs. Tou accommodated him in every way possible. ❤
