Hey chaps.. Thank you for the name check and your insightful take on a KISS show..It cheered me up. 😂🤘😂 Your Paul Stanley voice was like he was in the room. 😂 The Gene solo is about just distorting his bass then being the Demon … he used to go up in to the air just on a harness and hang there and go into God Of Thunder.. sadly, I guess at his age it is now safer to go up on a platform. Hopefully see you at Firevolt. 🤘⭐️🤘

I saw them in the 90s, when "Peter Criss" and "Ace Frehley" were played by Peter Criss and Ace Frehley. They put on an amazing theatrical show which didn't quite make up for the fact that most of their songs are a bit gash. Glad I did, but don't feel much need to do it again.

Saw them on the 1st Euro date in 1976 (Manchester). Seen them a few times over the years. Set the bar for the big show and for merchandising. before them it was a t shirt. After them you could buy everything you could think of and lots you couldnt think of. best shows were Apollo with Bon Jovi as support (1st album) and Bradford St. georges Hall (both without makeup). Eric Carr was the drummer. But last I was them (2010) it was certainly lavish.

I'm a super fan, absolutely love them and was at that gig in Manchester! I personally disagree about them not having a solid middle ground in their discography, but I guess that's just differing music tastes! Nice podcast guys, looking forward to your next album!

I've seen KISS 5 times from 1979 through 2004. 2004 was the absolute best, 1979 was great as was 1996... 1985 was without makeup but still great.

Great cast….I’ve seen Kiss many times, including touring without the make up. I have to say I love their show, if you’ve been before you know exactly what you’re getting. It’s a bit like some action movies where there’s no real plot and the acting is terrible but it’s fine you know you just leave your brain at the door and accept it for what it is. I didn’t make this last tour but I would imagine and from what I’ve heard it was much the same as the last few tours. Using the film analogy again…same movie just some minor adjustments to some of the scenes. 8/10 though…that’s a decent score so as you say they’re getting something right.

God Of Thunder, supposed to be a hell and demon moment of bassness. Was a great show, we were opposite you guys, but totally agree with Pau's patter.

Saw their 2000 reunion tour with all original members. Was a pretty cool show. Ted Nugent opened for KISS that evening as a power trio band. I'll never forget Ted saying in the middle of his set, "How do you like that KISS shit!" Don't think the band cared to hear that backstage. LOL. Their prime years were during the '70s. IMHO.

Reunion tour was 96-97. 2000 with Ted Nugent was the Farewell Tour. Which they’re still saying 23 years later!

@@thefonzkiss, that's right. It was their so called Farewell tour. Thank you for the correction, confirmation.

Really enjoyed your review. I’ve seen kiss 9 times and was there in Manchester. Gene plays the demon and his blood spitting bass solo has nearly always been part of the show. As has his fire breathing. Just wish Paul would just talk to the audience and not try the vocal gymnastics. Hoping to see you guys soon.

You need to see Springsteen, he is the total opposite, no gimmicks just the music. Kiss also use backing music

I appreciate that you're trying to say something nice about KISS. Seeing you struggeling with it says it all. To me they always have been just a averagely talented band thtat had a few hits in 50 years. But they are great at selling their brand. Come on, a KISS coffin...

I've not seen Kiss, but Rammstein set the bar for me with pyrotechnics.
@henkdegraaf1609
@henkdegraaf1609 Жыл бұрын
There are hardly pyro at Rammstein mostly fire. Besides that on stage there is a lot more going on with a Kiss show. Spectacular light show with LED screens. Kiss blows up by far more pyro than Rammstein.
@steambenmodels
@steambenmodels Жыл бұрын
@henkdegraaf1609 firstly, fire counts as pyrotechnics. Secondly, like I said, I've never seen Kiss. Rammstein have plenty of light effects, video screens, and pyro towers out in the crowd. Their stage show is too big for indoor venues, which is why their current, and last tours have been stadiums.

Kids nowadays just don't get glam rock, LOL. Best show I saw was Iron Maiden at Donington (1992), even though I got soaked in piss. David Lee Wrath Birmingham (1991) was another great show. David riding a giant mic, WTF. Hats off to Warrants Jani Lane (RIP), falling off stage onto a Babycham crate, cracking some ribs, but still carried on. Worst concert was Bon Jovi Milton Keynes (1989). Bon Jovi was just awful, sound was utter crap. Skid Row were fantastic though.

I’ve seen kiss many times & paul Stanley , although a great entertainer, trots out some appalling (obviously scripted ) tripe! I wonder why they do that but then I remember they primarily play to yanks who love all that cheesy crap- this is the country where cheering during a film in the cinema is perfectly acceptable and doesn’t feel stupid at all, or saying ‘how are you today?’ In a shop then walking off before customer has even replied. Being ‘remembered’ by Paul Stanley is tame by their standards.
