Very beautiful. In the U.K. we in the 1960s used to call this type of floor as “parquet” flooring. It was very popular in quality houses, school halls, libraries and general reception areas. We could keep you guys extremely busy restoring millions of them now!

Nice! Finally someone that finished it close to the original colour of the oak. That’s how it should be. Not some orange glossy nasty mess.

You're really know the quality is, not like the middle class who love the shiny glossy ones. It's the point to get as possible as the original color, of course it's will be doff/ mate, we will never see shiny wood in actual world. That's who we determine people by it taste.

I would love this floor no matter what caller, it turned out absolutely a labor of love. I grew up with hardwood floors and I can remember my mother on her hands and knees waxing the floor which also was a labor of love. Absolutely, incredible.❤🎉😊
@DHogg-w5uАй бұрын
When I was a kid, I had to strip the hardwood floor with Carson to remove the old wax. Then I had to get on my knees and rub in the paste wax. Let it dry and then get out the polishing machine and polish the wax to a glossy finish. To buff the floor my sisters and I put on Dad’s wool work sox and “skated” on the floor to finish the process. Took me a day as there were two rooms to do. Thanked God when urethane came on the market!

I have parquet floors in my open concept entry, great room, kitchen and the hallways. We’ve had it refinished twice. I too, thought I wanted a dark stain the second refinishing. The flooring man really didn’t recommend it, and ended up saying his supplier couldn’t get it. It has a light tint now. I do love the just sanded look and will go with no color the next refinishing. Your work is a thing of beauty, especially when you troweled on the filler. ❤
@michaeltutty15403 ай бұрын
Depending on the finish, sanding a hardwood floor may not be necessary. If it is an old wax finish, 0000 steel wool and varsol will clean it and leave it ready for a new wax finish.

5:06 oh thank gawd! Interior designer here ... look at the richness of the grain and just how delectable all that detail is ... while drastically minimizing the contrast (of the former dark stain) to those white/light walls ... that pattern will stand out and can hold it's own; no fighting or vying for -the eye's- attention (as what can happen with the former contrast/difference) because it doesn’t need to ... the light stain allows the complexity of the pattern and grain to be showcased/receive its due attention. Love it! Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me. 🕊 🫶 💪 🪷

@jenniferlynn353726 күн бұрын
Yes - dark floors articulate a “classic, elegant, expensive” presentation - especially when paired with such an intricate design. Everything about blond floors read as “new, trendy, uncultivated, impermanent” - as though someone with sneakers or snow boots will be trudging through the interior at any moment. Walnut, of course, is the gold standard in woods …whereas pale woods harken to pine. People aspire to different aesthics, I guess…

I would only agree to prior color or as close as possible, but not lighter. The grain barely shows off with that light color. That's part of the preference for this flooring choice!!! I don't like the darker choices either. Watching the final clips, I would want the "wet" finish shade!

I think it looks great. Parkay flooring can look really dated sometimes. This has a very clean and modern vibe. I would love to see it with the furnishings in the room. That light colored floor won't go well with all types of decor. The other types of flooring in the house might alter my opinion as well.
@Warp20904 ай бұрын
Dated is sometimes better like in this case though.

I preferred the natural colour of the wood after sanding. In fact the primer tended to really bring out the grain. The finished article ended up a bit too light for my taste. Still, each to their own and if the client liked it, that's all that matters 👍

Awesome videos bro! And top notch craftsmanship! Question I have..what is the idea behind mixing grits on multidisc? Can’t seem to figure out this one:)
@QuicksandFlooring4 ай бұрын
Thanks mate 👍🏻 With the multidisc I find this works for me on certain soft timbers that we sand. I used to use a set of 60g then a set of 80g and finally a set of 100g papers to finish the floor but a was watching a KZbin vid and saw a guy put alternating grits on a Bona power drive. I gave it a go and I’ve never looked back since, I put 2 60g, 2 80g and 2 100g all on the bottom of the epoch and it cuts the time of sanding in half. I’ve been doing it for a couple of years now and haven’t had any problems with it. If you’re sanding extremely hard timber or putting a stain on I would then take 6 120grit papers and finish it on that.
@restofloor47224 ай бұрын
Interesting, just don’s see how would you know that the last paper touching a floor is the highest grit. I guess that would’t matter on natural floor though. Thanks for replying. Your floors look beautiful 👍
