Honestly I think this chapter shows just why Abengane was given an S rank. When people in the Hunter x Hunter world talks about nen curses they all seem so hopeless like it doesn't matter what happens that curse is just going to be there and if you try to deal with it, it will just kill you. There's a known nen-exorsist on the boat yet none of the kids are lining up to have their murder death curse removed, probably because your everyday nen-exorcist can't deal with it. We've been spoiled with Abengane being able to just turn some of the strongest nen-curses around into a gingerroot goblin to carry around for a while so we don't really see nen-curses as big of a deal as we perhaps should because as it is there's literally only one man that we know off that can deal with any nen-curse thrown at him the rest of the nen exorcists seems woefully limited in relation to him.

Wobble has a high chance of being Beyonds kid. Guardian beast never appeared because of forced zetsu, the nen Kurapika felt, Oito looked nervous when they started talking about Beyond in front of her and just from a narrative stand point it creates intrigue. Kurapika said he'll defend Wobble but is also about to sign a contract to (potentially) help find Beyond's child so Longhi can kill it.

It brings up so many questions: 1. Does being manipulated by a nen user to attack break the contract? 2. Does an enemy spy that infiltrated the guards attacking break the contract? 3. Does attacking a nonviolent traitor break the contract?

Good questions. In jojo jotaro beats a stand user not by actually defeating him, but by convincing him into thinking he lost. By admitting defeat within himself the enemy lost the duel. If kurapika believes that he broke the terms of the contract even though he didn't, what would happen? Is nen omniscient and let the contract stand, or does nen depends on the feeling of the user? And if the user finds out later on that he didn't actually broke the contract, would the zetsu be removed? Or, can he break the contract without triggering the zetsu by deluding himself into thinking that he didn't actually break the contract? It's a simple enough ability on the surface, but there's a lot of nuance to it. Can't wait for 2030 to arrive with the chapter that gives us the answer to these questions.

If nen was omniscient then it would have "known" that Pakunoda was about to tell the rest of the Troupe about Kurapika the instant she started loading memory bullets into her gun, and killed her before she could fire. But in her thoughts she hadn't actually told them anything, not even when she pulled the trigger, but until the bullets hit. So she didn't die until they did.

The idea was to use transmutation and conjuration to condense nen into "nen pills" and then have them sign the contracts to buy the nen, and now that we see a nen user that needs people to sign contracts, it just makes me happy.

This might be a stretch, but I feel like that fact that human infants will naturally develop Zetsu when their Nen is awakened is a piece of evidence in support of the theory that humans themselves are originally creatures from the dark continent. It’s not like in the known world there are Nen users who go around hunting other beings with notable aura. In fact that specifically sounds like Chimera Ant behavior. It humans evolutionarily have the trait it wouldn’t be a huge stretch to say it was an evolved defense against Chimera Ants or other dark continent creatures from back when humans also lived there. The whole idea of humans having their Nen awakened in infancy leading to powerful natural Nen users also kind of explains how humans could’ve ever come from the dark continent in the first place without immediately getting decimated by the other life native to there. I could imagine an entire society of people who are strong Nen users being able to survive there. Rather than current human society where only people who train for years or natural super talents can wield Nen effectively.

On the nen users outisde the hunter association - I like to think about the hunter association as a guild or union of nen users. Considering the number of clients they bring in, it would be beneficial to join them even if you are doing well as an independent nen user. We have already seen some. The embalmer who taught Machi was presumably not a part of the association because she is a meteor city inhabitant in the past. Beyond is also presumably not associated with the hunters, as they would've had him on the books if he took the exam, and people who go under a different identity for the exam, while there are no rules against doing so, have to use the identity for anything related to hunters association, a la illumi changing his face for the voting despite everyone he took the exam with having seen his real face and basically everyone who knows killua knowing who he is.

I can't help thinking about who the child of Beyond could be, I have a few theories so I'm just going to lay them out. #1: Luzurus We have been given reason to believe there's more to him than meets the eye, that he's playing everyone, so to me it makes sense. #2: Marayam This is largely based on the fact that Queen Sevanti made a point of prioritising his safety over that of Momoze, my thinking is that maybe he serves a greater purpose and she's in on it all with Beyond. #3: Camilla She's possibly the best prepared for the contest and already a nen user, it does make sense to me that if Beyond had a secret child with one of the queens that he'd make sure they're prepared for the contest and likely make sure they know nen. #4: Tserriednich He's an unparalleled genius, need I say more? A lot of me doesn't want it to be him but I can't help but think he's one of the most likely. Those are my best guesses.

I don't like the idea of it being Tserriednich but I had to mention him because he does seem to be an obvious candidate. I don't think Cammy is too obvious though, she could go either way. I think her use of curses and having an exorcist on hand kinda fits the same MO as Beyond so it just felt like too much of a possibility to not mention her. As far as them definitely knowing nen, I don't know if that's necessarily the case, I think it's likely whoever it is, if there is one, has a different purpose compared to the rest of Beyond's kids, why would he go to the trouble of secretly impregnating one of the queens to pass off as a legit prince if they're just supposed to die? So to me it's not a guarantee that this particular child would have been initiated in the same way, though if you assume they were then Cammy and Benjamin are really the only two candidates as far as we know.

I think beyond might've set up the curse so that his children dying causes bim to die. -1 this now becomes the condition to set up an even more powerful nen ability -2 if beyond does the same thing isaac did, and keeps a poor man's rose in his chest that activates upon his death, it becomes a threat. "If you kill my kids, you die. Checkmate"

I think Togashi has been foreshadowing Wobble to just get up at any moment and start walking aroundthe ship and nen blasting his enemies. Halkenburg will shoot his arrow and wobble will grab it with his baby hands like when Hercules grabbed the snakes in the Disney animated film. Wobble will throw the arrow back and break through Halkenburg's shield. When facing Benjamin, Wobble will turn into a lion and eat Benjamin. If facing Morena, Wobble will simple smack her head off her shoulders and then flex. When facing terror sandwich, Wobble will sub-consciously develop a Future ² ability allowing him to see up to 10 minutes into the future and see all of Tserri's futures. I think that's what's gonna happen.

Going off something you said: Wara ningyo are to be nailed to trees where the spirit of a zodiac animal dwells. This curse doesn't have to be targeting the princes. We're just assuming that because it's the most relevant to the current succession contest. But maybe Beyond's plans aren't affected by who wins. Instead, it could be targeting the Zodiacs. Pariston is working with Beyond, maybe that's part of why he left.

This is too much of a stretch to say beyond has nen abilities powerful enough to contain or ward off a calamity with a contract with conditions. If so, it might be the most powerful curse/conditions we’ve seen. And the more kids it’s on the stronger it is.

@HoopsRaccoon i just love theories and conversations. So much not known about Beyond. Two of the main things are how he came back "unaffected" and what his powers are. Maybe the calamity eats a person from the inside unless they spread the rot themselves. Like it's a calamity to prove how selfish people are so it will only affect the person it initially infects; and they can choose yo either be eaten alive and contain all of the misery inside or place it on others and if the calamity sees you as beneficial then it will keep you healthy.

Hear ye thine theorem of mine’ 1. kacho is beyond’s daughter and thus activating the curse on fugetso,(togashi prepared a twist behind them being twins) 2. Wobble is beyond’s son and the reason his nen best hasn’t shown yet is because of the baby’s nature to use zetsu. 3. Oito is the user of silent majority. 4. Pariston “strategically”placed the three hunters including Bill on Wobbles quarter for protection (abilities : bill- growth, 2nd bodyguard- escape, 3rd - spy) though this one is a bit of a stretch 😅

Nah 4 is probably a solid point for why Woble is the beyond baby, the least likely to win prince getting the best hunter guard set up, despite the non hunter guards all being literal plants to kill woble, and so far Silent Majority has only attacked neutral/enemy of Woble's camp people

Perhaps Woble’s curse-bearer was one of the ones that got hit immediately at the start of the voyage, and the curse itself is the intense aura that Kurapika felt by her crib. It would be scary to think that she’s been cursed this entire time and that Kurapika’s been sacrificing years of his life for a lost cause. Or perhaps since the curse was triggered too early, it actually “initiated” Woble and made her strong enough to survive with her baby ten and baby zetsu.

The reason why so many bodyguards were killed by them was probably an attempt at finding Beyond's children and kill them so the curse activates, which puts Beyond's plan in motion. Perhaps, Beyond was even refering to the "silent majority" user when he said he needed to talk to someone at the end of the chapter?

its not surprising there are strong nen users outside of the hunter association (I mean just look at the phantom troupe/meteor city) and even unknown nen users such as world class talents/athletes/artists. it more so seems that teaching nen use in the traditional/netero sense is what is heavily guarded since theoretically everyone has aura/nen and it’s up to them to learn it

so this is an idea i just came up with. what if Kuripaka makes a contract with himself that states another restriction on emperor time. for example maybe he writes in the contract that if he uses emperor time on whoever is the owner or is in allegiance with the owner of the rest of the scarlet eyes he no longer has to worry about the amount of time spent in it. if anything he might be able to write a 2nd clause in there that states if he retrieves the rest of the scarlet eyes without killing who has them he gets all the time back he lost with emperor time.

Born able to use Nen. My interpretation that Beyond used Nen on his…fluid to give them the natural ability to use Nen. Or he applied the curse on his fluid and them being able to use Nen is just a byproduct of the process. My guess is the condition is that any kids Beyond sires will be cursed automatically which will be a huge restriction that affects a bloodline. I like the concept that a parent’s children can be used as collateral for Nen restrictions.

That is a thing with her character - the few times she sounds reasonable while you are reading it make her seem more insane in retrospect. The first time she uses her cat ability charging into Benjamin's soldiers, it seems like a foolproof plan and she seems like a mad genuis. But if someone could curse her or self destruct alongside her, she is permadead, no cat no nothing. Then you realise she charged in blind and is definitely still the insane, compulsive psycho she was introduced as, if not worse.

There is also a possibility that Longhi's power isn't Longhi's power and someone lend it just like Longhi lends the power to Kurapika. It also doesn't have to be the truth she tells, the power could've been passed down like "if you sign this contract you lose all memories of not owning this contract". This ability sounds broken if you can inflict curses/conditions as a part of the contract upon signing it.

i'm sure that is the case, otherwise anyone would do, he wanted a very strong curse so the imposition is probably that it only can be placed on his biological children(otherwise he dies) and must mature for as many years as their target is alive (hence why he placed the curse into the babies and their birth coincided with the princes) and can only activate upon the death of the curse bearer. which to me sounds like a conditional ability like l kurapika's chain jail to the tee, and like kurapika he must have realized he needs backup abilities. we dont know enough about him to infere what his other abilities are tho, curses arent necessarily specialist-bound.

Somehow, things just got even more complicated. Every prince has a faction, Beyond Netero's kids are there to kill a certain prince. One of the princes is Beyond Netero's, Beyond Netero has other agents on board to go to the dark continent, the Phantom Troupe is hunting Hisoka and going to war with the Morena's mafia. This is so much to deal with.

We don't know if the curse is baby specific. We also don't know if the curse gets more powerful overtime, like how Camilla's soldiers, which could explain the power and why he places it early. He don't know how difficult the curse is to place, because this could mean that any of Beyond's followers could have a seedling of a curse without realizing it.
