Don't try robbery in China. The crime of robbery is a serious crime in all crimes, generally more than three years and less than 10 years. If it causes heavy damage or robbery on public transport for more than 10 years, it may even be sentenced to death.

When I was in Bangkok I went to a very famous touristy place and the guides found a professional camera completely untouched on the bench. They asked around if it belonged to anyone, but the owner wasn’t anywhere to be found at the time so they gave it to the security. I also left my belongings in the middle of a crowded night market, when I came back a shop owner had kept them and gave them to me right away. I’ve heard many stories like yours about europe & USA and it makes me not want to travel outside of Asia 😂😭

The Western media always describes Northern European countries as heaven on earth. People are the happiest, great social safety net, clean environment ,equal rights, freedom and free education all the way through college. And why the lady said no camera? It's not a state secret military base, if that happened in China People would say that a police state , no freedom and cry about it.

Western freedom is exclusively only for their capitalists NOT the common People. In China, freedom is for ALL ! That's why the greedy western capitalists would shout "no freedom" because it not freedom for them to price gouge/exploit the common people - as what Jack Ma was prevented from doing !! Whereas the common people from western countries, coming into China , would be shocked that the freedom for ALL isn't what was defined in the West by greedy capitalists !?😅

Our Evenks fellows can show you their reindeer and you can have a ride on a reindeer sleigh. Most importantly, the food here in delicious at least. It takes about 10 minutes to fully experience northern lights and then you're like, "ok, then what" 😄 Personally I would either pick a nice cabin resort with outside jacuzzis (super nice during winter!), ice dipping possibility and saunas (there are different kinds of saunas, so be sure to try at least a traditional sauna and smoke sauna!). Or an ice hotel. And instead, you can go hiking outside with a guide and experience the amazing scenery and northern lights outside, maybe make a camp fire and drink some hot beverages 😊 Husky rides are also something very nice to experience, and especially skiing if you're into that!

Did you ask the sled from lost and found? In Finland people tend to take stuff there if they are just lying around. If you want to leave your stuff, you put it nicely against wall etc. and then people know it's not forgotten or abandoned. But then again, it's full of people all around the world so different customs in every country. And as side note, i'm from Finland and i wouldn't go to Santa Claus village either, it's massive tourist trap.

You dont leave your stuff unatended at a tourist attraction that is packed with people. There are thieves in places like that all over the world. I lived in Finland for 33 years and my crappy bycicle was stolen once thats it. And i even found that crappy thing couple hours later. So if China feels safer then best return there fast.
@justskip4595
@justskip4595 5 ай бұрын
Only thing I have had stolen from me here in Finland has been a very worn down bicycle from early 70's. It was even in the bomb shelter of my building and you had to go through at least 2 locked doors to get there. Nobody bothered to steal it for years when it was just outside and not even locked or behind locked doors. Someone must have picked it because it was the worst one from about 60 bicycles in there. Tourist traps are... traps. It is usually best to go where the locals go and avoid places where specially foreign tourists go no matter where you are. What comes to living, people should live where they like to live. I would be miserable any further south as weather over +20C is just misery and suffering for me. This -31C though is getting to the other extreme of my comfort zone with temperatures.

I have been to the santa village. It was nice. I think I paid 50 euro for the photo in low season. Twice pick-pockets in my life were in helsinki and brussels. But I got helped by kind people on spot too. I saw pick-pocket on Madrid public bus. Everybody saw it and no one said anyting. My friend also stopped me to tell the victim. Nowhere is absolutely safe.

Jason, to get a digital copy off your expensive photo, you can try using a color digital scanner, if you have access to one. If you possess one yourself, try to use as high a scan resolution as is practically possible. You will not have any reflection like you will encounter when you do it with a camera. There will not be any shape distortion as well.
@brexitgreens
@brexitgreens 5 ай бұрын
Scanners are so last-century. The way to do it in 2024 is with a smartphone camera by positioning the illuminating lights at an angle rather than directly in front where they are reflected. If that doesn't help, take multiple shots of the picture from many angles, then perform digital perspective correction, then align each shot automatically, then blend them together with the median filter. Done! You can write your own programme to do it in Python. And if you don't know Python, any AI can write this programme for you.
@snookie51
@snookie51 5 ай бұрын
@@brexitgreens I know you can used a camera with a tripod or holder and proper lightings. But the results won't be the same. Most smartphone cameras are wide angle which will create a certain amount of pincushion or trapezoid distortions and perhaps a certain degree of color distortion as well if the lightings are not properly set up. Conversely, a scanner will not give you these distortions. We are now talking about a photo of sentimental value. I use my smartphone camera to shoot less important photos as well. I am fully aware of the quality difference. Oftentimes, I have to crop these photos to make them look better. You will largely be spared of all the necessary corrective actions when you use a scanner. So don't rule out the usefulness of the scanner too soon.

You should come to northeast China, to Heilongjiang my hometown. There's no Santa Claus here but there are beautiful villages with breathtaking winter scenery, the magnificent Harbin Ice and Snow Festival to see giant ice sculptures that you won't see anywhere else in the world and slide down the 432m ice slide. Our Orochen (Oroquen) ethnic fellows can show you their reindeer and you can have a ride on a reindeer sleigh. Most importantly, the food here is delicious with fairly large portion at least. For 100 Euros you can do all of these activities.
