I’ve played with it a few times, and the biggest problem is that it’s pretty much impossible for it to reliably generate what you want. With a commission you can always get an artist to tweak a picture, but AI? It’ll just generate a completely different image every time. I think the entire AI industry is being propped up by investor cash doing the classic tech bro thing of “create a monopoly first figure out how to monetize it later), and I think that’s going to fail at some point.

I've been drawing since I was a kid and the frustration I felt if I couldn't get something right no matter how hard I tried nearly made me quit multiple times. I nearly quit in 6th or 7th grade when I was 11-13 and didn't draw consistently until 4th grade BECAUSE of this stuff Calling AI generated """art""" "hard to make" or even CREATIVE is just blatantly incorrect because wow. You're typing words in a box. Honey works so hard! Yes, any work of art is hard to make but that's if you're making it. not generating it using an algorithm. Sculpture work is hard, drawing is hard, painting is hard, animating is hard, WRITING is hard--any form of art is hard unless it's not art because you're typing words in a box and having an algorithm steal actual, preexisting art to make images.

Sadly not how it works. You could say the same thing about speech yet AI has the ability to hold entire conversations without humans noticing that they are interacting with only an AI. We have no inherent quantifier for how real any experience is that is being communicated, not in words and not in art either. It'll be hard for AI to create a true masterpiece but the vast majority of artists are not making their money by producing masterpieces. The creative market has already been hijacked by alot of things that is interfering with art being a communication of human experiences, think about a board meeting about a movies content where multiple people decide what to cut and keep, essentially replacing the honest communication inside a piece of art with broad appeal. Speaking as an artist, AI can never produce real art but it will however take over a large part of the market that artists occupy because it's already filled with non-real art.

I agree we need nuanced conversations about the place of AI to *assist* the creative process (such as generating 3D poses for artists to draw their characters over) rather than outright replacing it (typing in a prompt into a program) I heard a great analogy somewhere, wish I could remember who, about calling generating finished images as an artistic process: If a customer comes in and orders an early grey cake with purple frosting and chocolate decorations, the baker is the one who bakes the cake to their specification. It’s lovely to see that other people outside the art industry are helping us artists in the fight against AI art. Thank you for spreading awareness for the good cause! It’s nice to see that someone with a large subscriber count can spread the word to their casual audience to help raise awareness of not only how to distinguish AI art but the damage it can do to artists. Love the content as always, thank you for the small segment at the beginning, even the littlest comments go a long way!

This response to ai art is more thought out and accurate than what most creators make, even when prompted through an opportunity like this. And that's also considering that many creators make videos which are generally far more closely *related* to art than you guys do (not discrediting the work you do ofc Tori, i think it's fantastic and hilarious most of the time). Thanks for taking the time to acknowledge it properly.

AI is inherently unethical and it's so good to see y'all taking a stand when so many other channels just embrace it and don't care about the repercussions.

Just like any other illustrative tool, what if the artist prompting the AI was blind and could not make the content? Or what if this makes the whole concept invalid and any form of art is art? gatekeeper.
@AnAverageGoblin2 ай бұрын
@@OliverMarkewärn ai images aren't expression which is the entire purpose of art. its writing a prompt that the programs use to scrape off real artists. + blind artists are a thing dude, I doubt a *real* artist would give up their passion because of a disability. if you put a prompt into a program to make an image you aren't making it, an ai is. you have nothing to do with the outcome.. just write stories if you like using words so much instead of making talented people's lives worse. or learn how to draw and do something with your life instead of defending theft. ai theft doesn't invalidate Art at all, stop using lazy excuses and deflection to justify dishonesty.

As a disabled artist whose hands barely work, don't use disabled people as an excuse for your lazy theft
@OliverMarkewärn2 ай бұрын
@@AnAverageGoblin Lol, gatekeep art more would you, you have still not proven that prompting AI to make art is not art, you claim that the artist is not making the art, but without the artists prompts the AI would not be making said art, and to the unaware beholder it is a piece of art just like any other.
@apenguininthemist8552 ай бұрын
@@OliverMarkewärn That you feel the need to raise False Flag and Red Herring Fallacies to defend the supposed tool is more damning proof than any anti-AI argument could ever give. One need not keep a gate if those who need be kept outside of it cannot hope to reach the gate to begin with. A gatekeeper fights against those who can reach the threshold, you and your ilk simply do not.

The main problem with AI art is that it steals the real art that people have made. The AI can’t create anything on its own. It trains off of what real people make and create and doesn’t give them any credit. I’ve seen lots of artists find their literal artwork “produced” by the AI and not give them credit. People will type in an artists name to get an image that looks like the artist they want. And a lot of the time it’s not even an amalgamation of that persons artworks sometimes it’s literally just taking the whole piece and spitting it out for someone to steal (again). The other issue is social media sites are now letting their ai programs to train on the art people are posting on the site and nobody was told. I can’t stand it, as someone who draws and is learning how to make art myself it’s frustrating to see something I work so hard learning and getting better at over time because 1. I want to get better and 2. I enjoy it, being cheated by people who type a few words into a computer to get to the end the easy way. All that to say AI art is theft. It’s the cheaters way.
@meganjaime77282 ай бұрын
To add to this lengthy comment there is an artist, Greg Rutkowski, who is suing certain AI companies because they are stealing his art. People are literally trying to type “so and so’ art style” to get something that looks like he made it. And he’s a painter, so for him the art takes a long time. It’s also so beautiful and detailed that the fact it’s being ripped off is just so insulting.
@bufficliff89782 ай бұрын
It's in terms of use for social media that everything you post belongs to that company Edit: my reply is only about the point that people weren't told their posts would be used to train AI. Everyone's posts have been used to train AI for for 15-20 years, and we agree to surrender our ownership in terms of use
@soouguysnextaccountidk2 ай бұрын
so, why is it not considered theft if people study other pieces of art and make art inspired by it, like how ai does?
@Projectarchan2 ай бұрын
@@soouguysnextaccountidk Found the ai bro here. In all seriousness, generative ai literally steals artwork from mostly unwilling artists to train their systems. Your argument is straight-up illogical and shows a blatant lack of understanding of how ai art is actually created. There is a blatant difference between being inspired by something and outright stealing it. If you can't tell the difference, that's on you. There is no inspiration in ai art. There is only a soulless machine. I sure as hell hope that you're just trolling.

ai can't steal because even if hypothetically it was storing full sized images the dataset would be too small
