Maremma sheepdog is the dog that we use to call “Maremmano”, its a very common dog in Italy epsecially in the countryside and its like a whole security service, its so protective

Yes, and (like any other shepard dog) they can become dangerous if you get too close to the herd they are protecting. So be carefull when you meet one while hinking.

when I saw Kiro I totally thought about maremmano abruzzese (just maremmano is incorrect)! Same eyes, same expression, basically maremmano in part of half of the "bastardini" in southern Italy, it's like THE italian working dog. but the charisma of kiro is totally different from pure maremmano (that is shy and need a lot of efforts to be well socialized, being a breed created to fight wolfs and bear...). I see also some "cane pastore italiano", that is similar to balck shepard!

I love dogs no matter what their breed is! Mine it's a mix oh Jack Russell and Shih Tzu and was born in England but he lives now in Italy. He lived in Romania as well so he's totally international! :)) You have a beautiful dog, congrats! xx

So what I take away from Eastern European Village Dog is basically a dog with out a breed. If you Google it and go through images there are various breeds and the pic labels it as such. Learned something new! Kiro is adorable!

I didn't know they make those DNA tests to dogs also. Nice! I wonder if someone has used that to check the purity of the breed of his own dog.

Katie, i would like to send you my new novel ( with a dedication, sure) just appeared on amazon, its a mediterranean story between Egypt, Greece, Spain and also Canary Islands (still Spain). I Think you will appreciate for reading in italian, for the adventure itself and also because the coprotagonist is a dog, named Jimmy, behaving quite like Kiro ( and i guess, quite like every dog). Would you give me a p.o.box or an amazon locker or an addresse of a store close to you where you can pick up the book?

Ok... unfortunately "Eastern european village dog" is a dog breed doesn't exist. Kiro is probably a mixed breed dog; simply a son of "bastardini" from Eastern Europe. That's it! But he's a lovely dog!

Our has the same reaction when we put on him his raincoat. It almost looks like you could gently push him to one side and he would fall to the side like a statue. Obviously, after 2 seconds that he's been outside he forgets he's wearing it and couldn't care less. He is such a drama queen 😂
