$500 for an E-Type! Not an easy car to restore though at all! The salt gets them a bit over here. Its one big love we have of this generation of Corvettes. Rust is generally not an issue!

On the FX3 suspension, the system does a self check at every key on. It will rotate the gears to full stop each way to sense where the shock is currently set. It is an extremely basic system. 13 = Left rear time out 14 = Right Front time out 21 = Left Front time out 22 = Right Rear time out 31 = Left Front out of position 32 = Right Front out of position 33 = Left Rear out of position 34 = Right Rear out of position Out of position codes are triggered if the computer senses that the actuator has not found the end stop position on the shock. Time out codes are triggered if the system is responding slowly due to a shock gear binding. Remove actuator at the indicated shock. Turn the valve gear on the shock stops after about 3 / 4 of turn, then you have a bad actuator. If it spins around continuously then it is a bad shock 41 = Selective ride control switch short to voltage 42 = Selective ride control switch open contacts You can have a code 42 if you leave the switch in between indented positions 43 = selective ride control switch circuit open. 23 = If you start the car more than 3 times and do not move the car this code will set. Drive 3-6 feet and the light will go out.

Yep . 'Yer man' is right - you need beer! Job goes better , but no roadtesting after, eh ? I had a chip in my C4, got between 10 and 14 hp , depending on who you believe, but the main thing was it got all the advance in earlier , and it could be a bit sharp on setting off . Bad enough to make my missus not go in the car again, as she has a complex spinal condition , and it eventuallyinjured her more. As for getting her in the C6..........ain't gunna happen ! Nice to see the shox still good , money saved and original components kept . Doug Rippie is/was a noted 'Vette specialist with a good reputation . I'm envious of your shiny rust-free brakes , apparently all C6's get rusty disc centres , and it looks shabby . Any thoughts on a more vocal exhaust yet ? Let the music out ! If you want to keep your disc bells in good condition, give them a dusting of paint now and then! The exhaust note is quite grown up for that car really!

We would love to road test but can't until October when it's "taxed" (legal requirement in the UK!).... We'd love a corsa exhaust for the ZR-1 but that will be one of the last jobs as a "treat" once everything else is done! You ought to take your wheels off the C6 and repaint the disc centres (we call them bells over here), that would really freshen them up!

Yep, a few cars do this...once power is interrupted in some ways...perhaps the extra stored electricity is sent to another electronic part, like some kind off bleed. My Renault scenic, the wiper motor clicks when ever any power is interrupted. And definitely the Corvette is way too advanced engineering and solidity built, from what I have learned from this series.

It's actually when you re-apply power to the car that this happens. The headlight motor tries to find the stop position when the battery is reconnected. Disconnecting the battery cannot be done properly (like purely ON / OFF), when you unscrew the contact, it will apply and remove battery voltage system many times in a second or so, leading you to think that this happened when you removed power, until you fully remove the contact lead. If the headlight motor rotates for quite a lot of time when reconnecting the battery (>4s), this means that the plastic bushings are almost dead and reduced to plastic powder. I had the same issue on mine and I found some white/beige powder in the engine compartment below the headlight (the motor gasket was also cooked). Get a fresh kit on Zip Corvette for exemple (HDL-418). You do not need to replace the gear usually, only the plastic bushing (and gasket if yours is done). I advised you to look at Mirrock Corvette video for a better understanding of the problem ( C4 Corvette Headlight Motor Repair, No rebuild kit required 1988-1996) : kzbin.info/www/bejne/iHOmo4ysqNGjldE That's in any cases, an easy fix compared to the LT5 work :D

Since the new Lambdas have gone in it seems to be responding to throttle a lot better. We think it could have been fuelling badly, they probably got damaged when the car was running poorly with the bad computer. Its guess work really, we're just happy it is running well!

It might depend on the damping rate of the shocks, these ones feel really good - you can easily tell when they’re not working properly! What car do you have?

@@Auto_Funk Polo G40. The shocks are Koni sport with dampening adjustment by compressing the shock fully and turning using the pistons. I wound them full soft, then back a turn. Didn’t seem to make any odds where I set them the pistons did not return to full stroke themselves.

For future reference, let the car warm up first before breaking the O2 sensors loose. The heat helps break them loose. :)

Its like a mix of the two... its a Street Cup... its a like a cafe racer'd from the factory Bonneville. Its not mega fast, but its fast enough for me to bimble around on. The left shoulder was done when I was putting the sub frame back on the Boxster last year, I must release that on my channel as I did film it. I don't know exactly how I did it but the night after I was in Agony. I think it was probably yanking the frame into alignment as it was a struggle to get the frame far enough forward... or over reaching under the car. Over a year later it is still not right, can't lift my arm up above my head. Probably slightly torn a tendon. The right shoulder is more recent and bike related, I did it coming off a trials bike going up a slope, I "super-manned" it which was hilarious I am told! That did my right shoulder and didn't do my already damaged shoulder much good either... (Sticking to on road bikes from now on)! So I just need to be careful with them now.

100%! I don't ride them well, it was a trials bike experience day. None of us had any trials experience and nearly all of us came off once or twice. Generally you're never going more than jogging pace so oddly, its a lot safer than motorbiking generally. We were instructed to go up the side of a motorcross jump, probably a 50 degree angle 8ft climb, successfully did it twice and the third time I applied a little too much throttle and the bike wheelied and came back down on me at the top of the slope. Folks that ride them well seem to defy physics, great respect for the sport.

You could have cleaned all four shocks in just a few minutes if you would have used.....instant starting fluid. Try it. It dissolves dried oil and grease almost instantly.

We're very envious of the weather in Texas... :D! The C4 seems to have not suffered with the rust much. Well built cars (better than they're given credit for)! That is a LOT of Corvettes in one place! Seems there is quite a big mod scene over there too! Over here they are largely standard.

We think they have to be original since they were made in West Germany (means they're older than 1992)... Surprisingly nice aren't they!

The construction of the Corvette is kind of different to most cars. The whole sill is a box section and quite solid! Its more like the chassis rail is on the outside edge of the car.

While I admire your enthusiasm in getting the vette back on the road its been painful watching like the blind leading the blind from the first episode with jonny running after the vette hoping it would start 🤦‍♂️ just so wrong. And those shocks you should get them tested to make sure the adjustable spring rate dampening is working correctly inside the shock you will not see it by plugging it in and looking at the shock 🤦‍♂️

Thanks Pepy! We don’t pretend to be experts! Either way it‘s a fully functioning road legal car so we’ve not done too bad considering the budget, lack of resources and not a lot of knowledge! We established the shocks *seem to be* okay therefore the budget allocated for rebuild can go elsewhere for now… eventually they will be checked professionally…

Sorry guys, but I don't want to say "I told you so " But....."I told you!" It's a ZR1... The reason your getting all the views is because it's " special!" (Worlds fastest production car and all) Invest in a garage with a ramp. Dry ice everything.

What difference did you notice upon changing the O2 sensors? I have a 93 base and I get an error code “left bank lean.” I notice a strong gas smell upon start up. Not sure if that is the cause of it. I don’t have anything leaking. Oh and what brand are your blue jeans? Never seen them in the US.

Good question - We didn't notice a huge difference but it certainly seems smoother. We don't get any fuel smells at all (outside or in the cabin) - Is yours a ZR-1 or LT1? Maybe there is a perished fuel breather somewhere? The jeans are from TJX (TK Maxx) and the brand is Sublevel.... Never heard of it but they've been decent :)
