I am not in a wheelchair (unless my husband pushes me somewhere in mine), but I am on a walker and am amazed at what many businesses-doctor offices and rehab facilities included-consider handicapped (or mobility impaired) accessible! Just getting into a restroom, and there are NO buttons to open the door! Or, if there is one, sometimes you must go out of your way to push the button, then the door closes before you can get back to go through it!!! I, too, would love to see you evaluate so-called “accessible” spaces! Please!

I wear really comfy clothes when my autoinflammatory disease flares up. I’m big into the cheap spaghetti strapped tank tops from Walmart. After moving into a new apartment I found a killer coffee table that a neighbor no longer wanted. I needed help moving it and flagged down a neighbor I had never met and asked him to help. That day I wrapped a big heavy shawl over my shoulders to be more modest in public. The neighbor Tim was so kind and agreed to help me. We’re both holding the table, I’m short so my arms were as far apart as they could be. I didn’t understand why Tim was so dead set on keeping eye contact until I realized my boobie was no longer within the tank top 🤣 He was bright red even though I should have been the one dealing with embarrassment. I apologized to him while laughing hysterically. I thought it was kinda funny but the poor guy couldn’t laugh. We became friends and were friends for years until he passed away.

I live in Illinois and probably about 10 years ago when I was 15 or so my family had a mini weekend vacation to Galena at the Eagle Ridge Resort. Galena really does have the cutest downtown area! I hope you enjoy your time and see lots of lovely spring flowers popping up! ☺️

The oldest town/city in the US is St. Augustine, FL. (just so you know) And, Grant lived in Galena before the Civil War. His father had a leather goods business there. Grant's mother was a first generation American. Her parents were from Ballygawley, County Tyrone, Ireland. Her name, btw, was Hannah.

The town name is correct. U. S. Grant lived there before the Civil War and right after. The town built their home for them. It is a very historical town. 9 Generals from the Civil War were from Galena and Lincoln visited Galena and stayed at the DeSoto house hotel, the oldest hotel in Illinois. Glad you enjoyed it!

So nice you were in Galena! My grandma was born and raised there. My brother also lives there, and I live just a short drive north. The big "ramp" (brick road) would've taken you to a nice Italian restaurant. The town gets very busy in the summer, so you picked a good time to visit.
