Q&A with the creative producer of We Will Not Fade Away, Stéphan Siohan, talking to Olga Sidorushkina. 17 September 2023.
We Will Not Fade Away is a documentary film about five teenagers living in the war-torn Donbas region of Ukraine, for whom a Himalayan expedition provides a brief escape from reality. A portrait of a generation that, in spite of everything, is able to recognize and celebrate the fragile beauty of life. Directed by Alisa Kovalenko.
SPEAKER
Stéphane is a French author and documentary producer. In 2016, he created East Roads Films, a production crafting creative documentaries from Ukraine and Eastern Europe. Stéphane co-produced Alisa Kovalenko’s award-winning “Home Games” (2018) and "We Will Not Fade Away”, world premiere at the Berlinale 2023. In May 2022, Stéphane authored a biographic essay in French of the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky, published in 15 countries. Stéphane also covers the Russian invasion in Ukraine for the French daily Liberation. He participated in the Eurodoc 2020 and the Ex Oriente 2021 training programmes.
MODERATOR
Olga Sydorushkina is a Ukrainian cultural manager with 15 years of experience in managing cultural projects in Ukraine, both local and international. She worked as a coordinator and selector at the Odesa International Film Festival, and curated the film department at the Green Theatre (Odesa). Olga worked for over two years in the development of international projects at the Museum of Modern Art in Odesa. She is also the CEO and co-founder of the festival of contemporary culture PORUCH (Odesa). Olga is currently based in London, working at The Garden Cinema and continuing to develop PORUCH.
