The point he made on defence industry was spot on, really US needs to look into it's defense expenses. I think over last 2 decades, no real infra development has happened within US, medical expenses are costly, a CT scan costing min $20k is crazy and nobody seems to put a check on it.. Waiting for Dr appointment takes 2~3 weeks..

America needs to put more weight on IMEC after ending Iran proxies for a stable Middle East. Middle East is anyway interested to make IMEC a reality
@fmnan7247Ай бұрын
IMEC has no future and probably little interest to its main provider, Saudi Arabia. The IMEEC is a kind of amateur copy of the INSTC, it is like US competing against Russia. The thing is the INSTC makes sense because it can deliver goods to a certain part of Asia developing fast and to Russia and perhaps to Northern and most eastern Europe, after that the Suez rout is fast and more viable to deliver goods to Central and western Europe. INSTC - India > ship Mumbai Iran> train > Russia, Caucasus, Central Asia, North Europe, Turkey all by train. IMEEC - India > ship Mumbai to Dubai or Saudi Arabia > Train to Isreal. > Ship Haifa to Greece or Italy > central and western Europea IMEEC to many transhipment s, to many political opposition, very little gains

I understood one thing from this debate is that Americans are clearly confused whom to really vote? As samir said no one is really concerned about US elections who is out of it. More problems at home are more challenging for whoever winning the elections than facing the global problems.

No need. Jaishankar is expert in Foreign policy.

It is quite funny to see Samir so enthusiastically defend Transatlanticism. Perhaps he has organized too many debates with transatlantic pundits. There was a time when the West was united, and the transatlantic think tanks either didn't exist or their networks were not as widespread as they are today. Samir used to invite more critical experts and politicians, but he does this much less now. The participants are always the same, and they’re becoming boring with their Transatlantic wishful thinking. The fact that the EU needs to emancipate itself geopolitically is essential for its survival. If this doesn’t happen, Trump will force Europeans into a painful self-awareness. Otherwise, the EU is falling apart in all areas-politically, economically, sociographically. Its social and economic bonds are trembling. Samir's comments on defense spending, in my opinion, were misguided. He follows the logic of rearmament, further escalation, and a decoupling mindset. Russian defense production has always been cheaper than in the West, largely because much of the research and production is state-owned. On top of that, the war has become existential for Russia-one of the West's biggest mistakes in this conflict. That’s why Samir's comments are skewed: more arms and militarization lead to further escalation and the potential for a Third World War.
