Welcome to a detailed guide explaining Weakauras, one of the most powerful addons found on World of Warcraft.

Thank you! And yes you can use DBM/Bigwigs and WA's as well! In fact you could even make WA's interact with DBM/BW

sorry for the noob question, can weakauras be tested only in live raids? I created auras for bosses, how do I understand that they work?

Not a noob question at all! You can change the trigger of the spell to match any other spell of your class. For example lets say you made a WA that alerts you that you have a certain debuff or buff from a specific boss and you can't test it because it's in the raid/dont have access to ptr. You could change that spell name to match a debuff or buff you get from a class. Let's say you're a paladin and you use hand of freedom and the WA works, that means your WA is working and now all you gotta do is change it back to the boss spell name.

It's probably a WA that you might have imported at some point, gotta find which one is it an either load -> never or delete it

Can you make weak auras that interact with addons

Yes you can! In fact everything and anything that happens inside wow is an event that most likely you can trace with the etrace tool. With the exception of retail's newly addition: private auras but outside of that the sky is the limit!
