Question for you guys! If I have a TFSA with RBC and want to make the switch but my account is at a loss at the current moment, should I wait for it to go back up or just go ahead and open up a TFSA with Wealthsimple and start investing there. I am open to hearing your thoughts, as I want to ensure I am not losing any of my contribution room or getting charged different fees to transfer a TFSA under $1000 CAD. Hey, I was doing some research myself, basically wealthsimple is a investing platform that is managed for you. It seems to be on the safe side. So Invest & Cash will put your money in mostly ETF's in different sectors and markets based on your risk tolerance. On the other hand trade & crypto is the platform for buying stocks you want specifically including crypto.

Hey! We found this on the Wealthsimple site - 'Day-trading is not generally encouraged on our platform, however, it is technically possible to do so using Wealthsimple Trade. Once purchased, assets are immediately available to sell, and when an asset is sold, the proceeds are available to use right away. It is important to keep in mind that the quotes offered via Wealthsimple Trade are 15 minutes delayed and that we charge a currency conversion fee on all trades (buys and sells) for US-denominated assets.' 😊

As a fellow Canadian, I want to move my TFSA and RRSP from a Big 5 bank (with a 2.5 MER for mutual funds) to WealthSimple Invest. I’m a bit hesitant because I keep hearing that I would have to pay ‘withholding tax’ on US ETFs/stocks. Should this be a big concern what does that really mean and financially how much of an impact does it have? Thank you for the awesome videos!

Its 15% of dividends paid by US exhcange traded stocks you own. The brokerage has to pay the US that money. If your US stock investment is in a TFSA, this will apply to dividends.

Hey Amandeep! Good question - you can hold in either - Den touches on this a little bit in Friday’s video! But yes there can be benefits to holding certain funds in either/or. Also, every ETF has an expense ratio attached - but doing it yourself (ie. no robo advisor) means there’s no additional fee to manage the fund (but again there are fees to buy and hold in general). 😊

I waited for 3 business days and still receive no message from them. I am so nervous right now because most of money and crypto is in there. They say they cannot take responsibility for any crypto that was moved to external wallet. This is so fishy.I never shared my info with anyone else. I still cannot access my account!

You sure can! You can have multiple TFSA's, but keep in mind that your contribution limit is across all of them (ie. If you're overall limit is $50,000 and you have $30k in one TFSA and $20k in another, you're maxed out) 😊

Wish Wealth Simple Trade had a USD account (1.5% each way is kind of expensive still). They are also kind of slow after you "make" a transaction. I had a few market trades @3:58pm (2 min before market closes) and they didn't go through. Questrade often cost more than TD for me (ecn fees + 1c per share). US & OTC stocks and research on TD. Canadian stocks & crypto on Wealth Simple Trade.
