Great thorough tests Mike, both look great value for money and its good that there's a few good options for pistol crossbows now.

@Weaponsandstuff934 жыл бұрын
Great video, I'd say all things considered the Tomcat 2 is better considering the prices.

Cheers mate, it's a toss up really isn't it, both have pros and cons in power, price, how easy to cock etc, well worth owning either isn't it.
@zednotzee74 жыл бұрын
Seems like there's no enough difference between them to worry about ( I wouldn't want to get shot by either of them lol ). So for me, the Tomcat wins because of the price difference. The money saved can be put towards more bolts.
@WeaponCollector4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, you're right mate, not a massive difference is it really, and both are much more powerful than the old 80lb crossbows, the extra tenner for the redback seems to get you a little more power, but mot much
@cobracommander40172 жыл бұрын
@@WeaponCollector I would like to see the same gel test with a 18 inch gel block and your broadheads and jaxce bolts with broadheads attached. The fbi say a firearm needs to produce between 12 to 18 inches of penetration through calibrated gel to be sufficient for self defense purposes. It would be interesting to see if either bow of that size could produce that level of performance with heavier ammo between say total bolt weights between 246 gr. To 360 gr.? If so they have similar penetration profiles to a firearm. What are your thoughts Mike?
@WeaponCollector2 жыл бұрын
@@cobracommander4017 Sounds great CC, Would be a very good test to do and would be very interesting to see a comparison like that, i would love to do that test, and when possible i will, the main problem with an 18 inch block of gelatin is it will cost me around £25 - £30 or more to make due to the amount of gelatin you need, if you can wait the funds will eventually happen, if not feel free to donated £25 and i will buy the gelatin that day and do the test within a few days of it arriving. I will do this test as it would be very interesting to see the results, just not till i have a spare £25 - £30
@Richardsmith0014 жыл бұрын
Great test mike doesn't seem to be enough difference to matter which one people get they are much better than the old pistol crossbows.
@jjtt68663 жыл бұрын
You can get those at 80lbs, by rotating each side of the string "tighter" when adding it with stringer, it removes slack of the string. If you have slack it wont get full draw of bow after tightening, tightened bow will bend some more and give better force but is harder to cock.
@karlmclean20233 жыл бұрын
Hello How do you rotate the string ? Twist it before hooking it on ?
@jjtt68663 жыл бұрын

Man, kinda hard to decide for me. Seems odd both have the same poundage but the redback had a bit more penetration into the ballistic gel. Did you find out which one was more accurate? That would be the deciding factor for me. Great video thank you
@WeaponCollector4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Karl, yeah weird that the redback was a bit more powerful, maybe its the ever so slightly thicker prod, who knows, as for accuracy, they are the same in my opinion, apart from the prod and stock they are essentially the same crossbow.

@lambofsquirrel3 жыл бұрын
Twisting the string will have an effect on poundage, prod length and brace height. Twist more and it's harder to cock. Each string will vary in length by millimeters as well. The real test would be to see which one has more penetration when twisting the string X amount of times, and using the same string on each bow.

@joeasher28764 жыл бұрын
Dude, they are the same crossbow. They are both made by the chinese crossbow company "Po-Lang" and are rebranded for sale everywhere else. The stickers and colours get tweaked for different brands but the mechanisms are identical and interchangeable.
@WeaponCollector4 жыл бұрын
I know they are the same basic crossbow, but i have had people ask for this test many many times, so here it is. The are NOT exactly the same though, i have had 3 of these now and all have different prods - and thats the main difference - if the prods are not the same one will shoot faster / harder etc and i have proved that in this test.
