It actually would have made for more merch to sell on top of still selling merch with the original 4 on it.

Much like in The Eagles, it was ultimately ego that destroys. Most bands start out on equal footing, then the "stars" develop, it goes to their head, and they start demanding a bigger piece, more control, etc. In my experience, you can't easily have a successful band if there are varying degrees of "importance". A vocalist thinks he's more important than the lead guitarist... the lead guitarist thinks he's more important than the rhythm guitarist, they all think they're more valuable than the drummer or the bassist.... then the band fractures. Look at the masters: The Beatles, Queen, Led Zeppelin..... they never replaced someone over egos. They had their run, then disbanded, and never tried to be "the new.......". by replacing someone.

Zep and KISS ran their bands pretty much the same - four equal partners, (until they decided to Peter had to go in 1980 and had to vote to fire him because of the incorporation of the band. Then G&P bullied Ace by outvoting him on everything until he finally quit 2 years later). If you don't think that Rush and anyone else never had battles due to ego, you're believing a fantasy - they may have kept their laundry much more private, but ALL groups deal with ego BS at some level, it is generally the biggest cause for people to quit, get fired, or to break up.

Having been a lifelong KISS fan from the beginning of the band, I can say with 100% brutal honesty, Peter and Ace “HAD IT ALL AND, BLEW IT”! This will ruffle quite a few fan’s feathers but, que sera sera. Peter was not a consistent drummer. He couldn't read music, he was primarily self taught. He could sing and that was his strong point. Don't forget about the years of drugs and alcohol that were literally destroying him and the band. He was never a top notch player but he has a large ego. It basically boiled down to let him go, get a new drummer with fresh ideas and playing skills or keep Peter on with a band that would sink deep into the ocean because of all his problems that reached out to everyone in the band and drug them down. I'm glad KISS moved on and became bigger throughout the years with a different drummer.

I agree that the OG KISS was KISS. When Eric Carr, and Eventually Bruce Kulick, joined KISS, that was the New KISS. They would drop the makeup, of course; but Eric and Vinny had their own makeup... they didn't barrow Peter's and Ace's personas. I really felt it was a slap in the face to Peter and Ace that Tommy and Eric Singer didn't get their own KISS personas, but reused Peter's and Ace's. It was wrong, and Paul and Gene know it. Although, I'm probably not the most authoritative KISS fan... my 2 favorite KISS albums are Music from the Elder, and Ace's Solo Album. I also own Revenge, but only for Eric Carr's Jam track at the end of it.

If they would have gotten Ace & Peter back in the band, the final tour would still be going on because of how much money it would be earning. And even if Ace & Peter were making "only" what they made on previous reunion tours (i.e., $50k and $40k PER SHOW), G&P would still be making more than ever before. If G&P had thought it was financially worth it to deal with Ace & Peter, I have no doubt they would have done it.

Tommy was the founder of the top KISS tribute group in LA / Hollywood back in the day called " Cold Gin " You can still see them here on KZbin !!! Also Eric was a well known Gunslinger on the drums playing for many top artists such as Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper, Lita Ford, Badlands, Brian May and Gary Moore as well as his own band ESP ... Not to mention Eric has always been a super nice guy to everyone !

P&G couldn't have cared less as long the cash till kept getting filled. Bringing back A&P was just a vehicle for them to reestablish a then floundering makeup-less/identity-less band and start selling tickets again. Once that reunion audience momentum (with makeup) was established they brought in the scrubs to finish the deal. Without A&P they wouldn't have been able to reestablish the makeup era and institute the hired gun cruise control they've been riding now for 20+ years..

My daughter asked me twice if I wanted to go to a KISS concert. I told her no. She asked why. I said I have been to at least 10 KISS concerts and it was fantastic, one of the best times of my life, I do not want to tarnish that memory by going to a KISS concert now without watching the REAL KISS MEMBERS. After Ace and Peter left I held on as long as I could but never went to a live event again.

Ace and Peter got to big to young. They didn't stay focused back in the day because drinking and drugs were more important. My opinion anyway. I saw the original Kiss in 77 and Ace play in 2022. Always will be a fan.

When it comes to KISS, and Gene and Paul, it’s down to money. They wanted all of the money, and contracted “younger” talent because they didn’t pay them as much. The original four it was split four ways, new kiss it was split two ways, and even then they argued over money.

There is a video out there on KZbin that shows Peter singing Beth, Gene is backstage bitching gripping saying he is screwing it up, when the song was over Peter came backstage and asked how did I do, nobody said anything except for Ace, Ace told him that he did a great job. Then they went out to say goodbye to the fans and Ace was the only one that grabbed up T-shirts towels and stuff to throw out to the fans Gene and Paul did not grab up anything. ROCK ON ACE 🤟😃🤟

I always have alot respect for Peter Criss and Ace Frehley I grew up during the Psycho Circus wra of KISS I always love Peter and Ace My Dad was friends with Ace Without the Original Members of KISS we wouldn't have KISS Today but Just my opinion Tommy Thayer should have been the Space Bandit and Eric Singer should have been a Lion, Dog or Hawk or Eagle those are just my opinion but Peter has his flaws he wasnt perfect but he manage to improve over the years im glad he is with us

Instead of doing a makeup reunion with Eric and Tommy. They should have just toured did new music with Eric and Bruce Kulick everything would have had more substance. Kulicks yrs had very solid albums and the old stuff would have been more acceptable. I saw the reunion show it was awesome Ace and Peter had they're chops for sure.

They haven't "thrived". They were irrelevant and almost broke and busted during a lot of the unmasked period. They copied every fad they could to try and keep up with everyone else in the industry until the reunion tour. Ace and Peter revived kiss and then Paul and gene dressed two imposters up and made kiss a tribute band because that's where the money is, that's all they're interested in, money.

@@brianstrutter1501 while I agree that Paul and Gene started the group Ace and Peter made up the core members of the band. They were right there with Paul and Gene paying their dues. They were there from the beginning. They created the personas. Yes, there were problematic moments in the past , and Paul and Gene managed to keep the band alive in a different direction, but you still can’t take that away from them. I totally get your argument (you’ve had a few retorts to some of these comments) , but then take the makeup and costumes off and perform the songs without it. Because it just comes off like a cash grab and they’re only delivering half the goods.

Just imagine if George left the Beatles then later Ringo did. Both were replaced and the replacements were told they had to wear George and Ringo wigs and they had to wear the clothes that George and Ringo would wear?? Just no! People like the originals. It's familiar. There are two exceptions that immediately come to my mind. (Yes I know there are plenty of others) Fleetwood Mac who (absolutely no offence to Peter Green) skyrocketed with the addition of Stevie and Lindsay, and ACDC, who accepted Brian because he did not mimic Bon. On that note, Brian faced a very tough crowd. They powered through and won. The new members of each band brought new songs and sound earning them fan recognition. I applaud that. For me though, Kiss is Paul, Gene, Ace and Peter. I lost interest after that. To me it seemed the new members brought nothing new to the table.

Peter Criss is my favorite singer in 💋 KISS, he wrote the song 🎵 Beth and that song was so Beautiful ❤No matter what people will think! As for Paul and Gene they should apologize to Peter for saying those awful things they said about him! And Paul Stanley also called Peter an Ace Anti- Simentic, when they were most definitely not!!! How do I know who said that because I read somewhere that Ace or Peter, I dont know who ever said that but they said that's ridiculous because they have Jewish friends!!! Paul needs to be a better person and a better friend!!!
