This is the best and the only demo that could sell Modwave to me. Seriously. Every other demo or even preset libraries are showing Modwave as 'look at me, I sound like a generic wavetable synth'. Also with one patch you created something very similar to one of my finished tracks made out of several channels. Awesome :D

One of my fave things to do on this synth is upload real life audio samples of my other instruments into wavetables then apply morphs to them or blend a pad in. The fm is sin based but I've made nice juicy fm sounds you can even apply it to a sample from osc a. One thing I really also like is the step sequence pulse presets and the way to add your own

I recently got Modwave Native for hundreds bucks and imho the value on this product is insane. Less so the physical synth but having physical Opsix I understand the appeal. Modwave can actually play very nicely with Opsix controls - they have to baked in to patches (except mod knobs which are system-wide -also map perfectly to four knobs set as "output" - red :)) but for real DAW usage + real time adjustements it is more than enough.

Great stuff! You had me at "I do not use presets"! I am the same way, my Modwave is programmed from the ground up with custom patches. I go against the grain and most of my patches are filters disabled, so the wavetable timbrality comes out from the wavetable texture alone.

Hi. Can you work on it from a computer like on Virus, or only on the synthesizer itself?
@DirtleTilbury2 жыл бұрын
That synth has so many cool sounds… can you segregate patches across the board like patch per key similar to the aphxstation and create drum kits of crazy sounds and glitched noises? That would be nuts but it would have to have quite a bit of power under the hood to do it.
@AviPFine2 жыл бұрын
You can save layer programs and put them on respective layers where you want in different patches. it's bi Timbral and i can use amp keytrack to apply split between two osc just in one layer alone too. Using the sum mod processor applied to amp keytrack then mod+ osc level You can sequence drums it's a bit of work you just need drum samples that have good sustain built in. I've made lots of those. If you get a good software that can resample drum loops that will work too with some nice tweaks. I love my modwave had it a while but this is actually the best demo I've seen so far actually.
@DirtleTilbury Жыл бұрын
@@AviPFine i need to download the manual and read about the limitations of the layer programs featre. I wonder if it would let you make one for each key type of thing. The amp keytrack thing, I will need to read up on that as well. I have an alesis ion that is quad-timbral...if that is what you are talking about with bi-timbral. It lets you have four voices stacked....which is wildly overkill but fun. Two sounds enough! I think you can segregate the four voices across the keyboard in different sections....maybe overlap them. Maybe these features are similar to the modwave?
@AviPFine Жыл бұрын
@@DirtleTilbury ive been able to split bitimbrally on two layers with some work, so yes, I have achieved some 'pesudo'-quadratimbrality on some of my patches. Its for sure possible. If you mean polyphony im not sure. It is 32 voices, the way they spread across when Im doing that 4 voice sorta-split thing, I dont know how it does it/ allocates the stereo voices. Ive only tried the sum mod process, theres other ones too I havent even toyed with those yet. I never had the chance to try an Ion but sounds like a pretty cool synth. Modwave is bitimbral so one split set up between layers already. What i do is split layers between oscillators on each layer themselves to get 4 if i want. Haven't noticed any drop outs but I haven't really done a thorough check on that yet

Is wavestate next? Can wait for you to crack on with it! Do you think this keyboard on its own could deliver a live act without the need of a drum machine? Amazing stuff as usual ;) keep it up! yap,they say it is more powerful than dsp and alows more polyphony but I had one and it was freezing a lot during the summer, sent it to repair and they changed raspberry, but it was freezing with new one also.
@OpenMindNL2 жыл бұрын
@@happymonday2591 My first modwave had a faulty display, but that was neatly solved by exchanging the whole device for a new one. Other than that, no problem. When a synth freezes, especially with multiple copies, the cause is usually with the user. MIDI loops, for example, are a notorious cause of freezing. These arise because the MIDI signal from the output is sent directly back to the input, and to the output, and back to the input... hundreds of times per second... after which the synth gets stuck in processing. This is often caused by routing errors in DAW software or MIDI mapping software. Advice: When using a synth in a DAW for both the engine and keyboard, toggle Local Control = Off (synth system settings). This essentially turns the synth into two independent devices, without internal connection... keyboard and sound engine.

@@sCealt I'd love it wasn't the case. As it would be so cool to real time control other ccs with the ball. I was able to route the Modwave's cc for x to the MS-20Kits Low Pass filter CV, and the cc for y to the High Pass via CVOCD conversion of ccs to CVs. This was just an experiment and I packed it up afterwards. The Modwave transmits a ball roll sysex, but I would have no idea how to parse to get into MIDI SOLUTIONS Event Processor Plus, though. That is an experiment for this winter!
