I recently watched this incredible drama, I’m not familiar with the books, Lauren Lyle is just amazing portraying ‘Karen Pirie’ hope there is more to come, Lauren is a beautifully naturally talented actress, her portrayal of Marsali in ‘Outlander’ is phenomenal! Granted I am a massive fan of British detective dramas but even by my standards this series is amazing! Entire cast of mostly unknowns (to me) all excellent but Lauren Lyle is a standout.

Amazing actor, and an amazing show. The show would have been good regardless of the main actor but having talent like here just takes it from good to unmissable.

I thought Karen Pirie was an unsympathetic character for me, immature, petulant, a tad arrogant. I didn't care about her character at all. Perhaps it was the casting because there have been other fascinating female detectives of the same ilk. Who knows. Not my fav, but I prefer UK dramas and detective stories over that done in the U.S., that's for sure. The Brits really know how to tell a story with more character and interest. Glad we can pick up what's done in the U.K. Whew.

Or maybe she's an archetypal precocious woman-child who can't control her temper, snaps and sneers at everyine around her, is completely unprofessional, gives little credit to the contributions of the rank and file and behaves in such a petty, spiteful way in interview that could result in charges being dropped. Yeah, Val, strong woman, stupid weak men, hark back 25 years for plausible deniabilty that you're not just ripping on men today. Yawn.
