Why say "finally"? We've been making steady progress since Ange arrived. Rebuilds take time. They dont happen overnight, especially when the kind of wholesale changes were required as in Spurs' case.

Ange has had one fucking season and people are still on his back. Same mugs who were abusing Brennan Johnson and are now cheering he's banging in the goals. I criticise when it's warranted and I've criticised plenty. But I'm not gonna bitch and moan one year into the biggest rebuild in Tottenhams recent memory.

From an outside perspective (Everton fan) I think Spurs definitely are. They're great to watch, with a clear idea what to do. Granted you'll have bad moments where you're conceding a lot of goals, but it kind of reminds me of when Klopp went in at Liverpool. It took a while for it to really click. Once it did, they were flying. If you're patient with him and let him get on with it, I have no doubt he'll be a fantastic manager for your club and finally win you something.

“Finally” sounds too reactionary given the timing. We have been on the right path since the start of the season with our underlying play following a positive trend. While last year it was all about mindset, this season Ange is starting to make tactical tweaks which do a better job of highlighting players strengths without exposing weaknesses. I think the real question is how quickly we get to where we want to be (title challenger + competitive in the CL) - and squad depth is the key to that. Our kids should get us there in 5 years, but we as a fanbase should push for 2. Knowing him Levy is probably hoping Ange can accelerate the youngsters development into nailed on starters, but this is an unfair expectation IMO.

Would love to believe so...Europa is so doable...just hope our guys don't take any teams lightly and go lock stock and barell in that cup. I agree that it does seem like the midfield trio of Kulusevski, Maddison and Bentancur looks to be the answer for us right now but I also do think Bissouma has shown a lot more responsibility on the pitch since the start of the season. I don't like it when people flip flop their view on a certain player all the time, like now we all love Johnson but don't forget how ya'll were treating him just 2 weeks back. Bissouma is a really good player and the only negative thing you can say about him is that he wasn't consistent last season and what that reason was I don't know but this season I think Bissouma's change of attitude (for the better) has imo been on display. Even against Qarabag when we were down to 10, Bissouma was everywhere defensively and you can say it's only Qarabag but I've almost never seen Bissouma so eager to win the ball back covering so much space when we had one less defensive player on the pitch when last season many criticized him for jogging back when we lost possession. I like what I'm seeing from Bissouma and honestly wouldn't be worried at all even if Bentancur is inevitably going to miss games for us, I think when everyone takes more responsibility offensively or defensively on the pitch while helping one another out and the emphasis isn't that much on our 6 having to be perfect all the time for our football to work, that's the kind of improvement I want to see.

If you've been in the doldrums because expectations haven't been met, be patient. If you're on cloud nine because you've got caught up in the recent result, cool your jets. There'll be more rocky roads and more peaks before this team is established as a true contender for the title. You'll get glimpses by the end of the season and next season we might be in a position to contend but that is how success is forged.

Ange is trying to bring back the spurs spirit of being positive and aggressive and playing football in a good way. he's trying to change it so fans aren't embarrassed for being "spursy" but excited to turn up and be themselves. Apart from the critical injury phase last season, Spurs under Ange have been on track of continual improvement (2 steps forward, one step back repeated still qualifies as continual improvement). We have 4 people here who love Spurs through and through. In order of how well they understand Ange and his concept of improvement, it goes Lee, Ben, Sim, and a huge drop off to Ricky. Unfortunately, Ricky is the closest of these four to a typical Spurs fan and Ange has much more befuddlement ahead. I'm with Lee, COYS.

It's too premature to say Tottenham are heading in the right direction when we still haven't beaten a decent team. We beat one ofthe worst Everton teams I've ever seen. We Beat a second string Coventry Barely. We Beat Qarabag. We Beat Brentford. We beat one of the worst Manchester United teams I've ever seen in my lifetime. Once we start beating Decent teams on a consistent basis then maybe just maybe we might be heading in the right direction

Whenever something positive happens to Tottenham, fans are always like "Hold up, what's the catch?" I get it as a fan of 30 years we have regularly been on again off again. But there will come a time when we break that even if only for one season. E.g. second in the league, champions league final, carling cup win. I look forward to those moments you should too. For me I earned those moments as a long term fan and they meant so much to me. Or you could be a Man City fan and win the league every year and it means Jack Shit.

The team must win the next five league games - they are winnable, no excuses. Consistency is crucial now that Ange is in his second season. It will be pointless to beat Manchester United and then lose to Brighton, West Ham, and Fulham. We need to see some consistency this season, and next season we can aim for trophies. I'm expecting 13 points from our next five games.

Bentancur's ban would only affect FA games (Prem, FA Cup, League Cup). He would still be available for Europa.

@@DavidChick-g7l I know what you mean but European competitions are governed by UEFA, not the FA (which is the English governing body). Having said that, I'm pretty sure the FA is a member of UEFA. Maybe UEFA will issue their own ban if the FA ban is upheld? Or maybe they don't care about Bentancur's comments.
