I went from 7 years in a Vaughan V7 to my Hzrdus. After the first skate I thought I made the biggest mistake of my life. Went from tight upper calf strap to everything loose and moved the toe ties all the way to the two inside holes (probably extreme ..gonna go back to their stock) and had a MASSIVE improvement my second skate. Gonna take a while but I love these pads so far.

Nothing wrong with moving the toe ties on the inside! Helps keep the pads straighter on your leg for less thigh rise overlap and interference as well as keeps your toes lower to the ice on the bfly!

Pretty sure I'm gonna grow to love how stuff these pads are. Sure softer would feel more familiar. But everyone has the ability to adapt and I LOVE How stable the pad feels on the ice. @@HockeyReviews

Great reviews! A few questions that you might be able to help with. I'm a 20-21 inch floor to knee. I'm currently wearing the Mach Medium 34s. Wearing them tight and high still leaves about an inch gap in my narrow butterfly. I find wearing the Machs loose in the calf channel help my play style (and hips after the game) at the cost of even more 5 hole gap. I was thinking of switching to the PX4s. The True website recommends I wear a 33. Wondering if I plan to wear the PX4s loose I might need to wear a 34 instead. For reference I wore 35 +2 V6s for years which I wore super low and covered the 5 hole perfectly. I love the 'Stabilslide' of the Machs. I find I can drive into the butterfly faster than any pad I have worn. I do find however I don't find myself comfortable in my ready stance while in the Machs I assume the PX4s would be the best of both worlds granted I get a softer boot flex on them. I wear the Warrior X4 Pro plus knee pads. Cheers.

So, I wouldn't size up in the True's and would go by what they have on their FTK chart for you. The FRS will naturally pull them up, even if you don't wear them extremely tight. I wear a XL Bauer and jump down to a 34 True that fit me perfectly.

Been in my px4 for 4 skates a week on about a month and a half now. I actually ordered another set of leg pads with different specs as I found out what I like and don’t like. The haz pads are not for people with a narrow butterfly and the strapping is a little tough to dial in initially. I actually bought a sewing machine to make my own FRS straps which have been a huge improvement.

I have a narrow butterfly and actually quite like them. Just forces me to do more strength and stretching to get that butterfly wider

I was trying to move away from Bauer’s pads. I don’t have experience from any other brand and I am a butterfly style goalie who likes rebounds being shot out from the pad. Also I love a smooth sliding pad. Any suggestions on pads I should get next?

Couple things: how are you finding the 600 Break working for you here? Do you go with a higher thigh rise to compensate for a narrow(er) butterfly? Not saying you have a narrow one, but I'm trying to figure out whether I want to go with a higher thigh rise when moving from a soft(er) ccm eflex to a hzrdus.

I love the 600, but since I have been using 590 for most of last year it is an adjustment and will take some time getting used to it. But the shape and closure feels most natural to me. I don't really order larger thigh rises than stock usually. My G7 are +1 vs the stock +1.5 and the pad shape dictates the coverage a lot more than overall length. Some people go bigger thigh to help close your butterfly, but if the shape isn't leading in it will just lead to a Giggy fly and I see A LOT of people having a hard time moving because they think they need a +3. If you are coming from a pretty curved Eflex to a straight and overall larger Hzrdus I can see it causing more issues than fixing tbh. But like most pad things, this is a preference thing so what might not work for someone might work perfectly for you. Any chance you can try on the Hzrdus and see how the stock one covers and works for you?

@@HockeyReviews I purchased a pair of 7x4 for sizing, but I don't feel like I really learned anything. The coverage was fine, it's just I find gear performs different on the ice compared to running carpet butterflies (or synth ice). Pure Hockey doesn't do demo sets either in my area. Anyway thanks for you reply. Another question for you, do you know what chest you're planning to look with next? I know you said you were moving on from the new Warrior. I purchased an SLR4 that I'm hoping to try out this weekend.

Is it doable to get a better z-shape for a narrower bf with the PX3. I have a 20.2 and have some difficulty to close the 5 hole.
@HockeyReviews
@HockeyReviews 5 ай бұрын
PX3 now have a customization option that is "Thick mid stiff" which gives you the thickness and stiffness of a 12.2 pad. So you could get more of a curve in them with those pads. But the Curve would generally be an S vs a Z shape. I am not sure if you could really shape the below knee break in the other PX3 options to get the Z shape you are thinking of since mine are no break throughout and stiffer throughout sorry.

this. After ordering my first px4 set I got new legs coming with the thick mid stiff. You will not get a curve with the stiff thigh rise.
