Oh man I just randomly stumbled on this right after a gaming session with my first ever VR headset (also a Quest 2). It was a few hours and once I removed them, the amount of pain was pretty bad. Checked the mirror and yeah, got a few sore spots around my nosebridge now. But I saw this vid and immediately gave it a shot - it works! There's still some pressure and I have an alternate head strap coming in soon to help (along with some lens protectors) but I can actually play without ruining my face even further lol. Awesome stuff. I didn't even know those two arms could be tilted. Instant game changer.

I didn't realise this video would get as many views as it has! Below are some points I should have made in the video. Everything mentioned here is on top of the standard glasses spacer included in the box, all this does is add a little extra room between your face and the quest lenses but doesn't protect either the quest lenses or the glasses from rubbing against each other. When talking about the lens protectors, I should have pointed out that they are cut into TPU and should not scratch your glasses! I have been using them every day for over a week now and both my glasses, and Quest lenses are scratch free. The glasses that I have been using with the Quest measure 140mm at the widest part, which is just slightly back from the lenses. I have tried out the AMVR lens protectors recommended from a comment on this video and found them to be uncomfortable with them resting on my nose - Review to come on these.

So if you have myopia it affects, I mean, do you really need to wear glasses when using the VR?
@WinTechUK4 жыл бұрын
Sadly yes, even though the lens is about 5cm from your face there is some kind of wizardry that happens and everything focuses much further away than that. I believe it's about 5ft, without my glasses I am as blind as a bat.

Informative Video! But, I have a question, some people say that the straps are bad (which I somewhat agree) Do you notice a major difference on how tight it is on your head when you have the glasses? An if the glasses are more towards you face does it put more strain on your eyes?
@WinTechUK4 жыл бұрын
I am using an elite strap now. I have been since about a week after I got the quest I think. But generally I do still feel the glasses closer to my face than normal, sometimes I can feel it on my eye lashes, it hasn't caused any strain on my eyes though.

Thanks from a confused dad who doesn't wear glasses, I want my son to enjoy his Christmas gift without smashing down on his face. How do you measure glasses?
@WinTechUK4 жыл бұрын
Hi Tommy, you get the glasses spacer in the box, this just adds a little more room between your face/glasses and the lenses. You will then want to get either the 3d printed rings that I used in the video or the AMVR lens protectors that have a silicone top layer. There are a lot of options for getting prescription lenses, best bet is to Google "quest 2 prescription lenses" and then compare prices if you have his prescription available. For measuring my glasses I used a tape measure on the widest part, which was the legs just after they left the lenses.
