These were originally called Air Max III when they came out in 1990. The Air Max 90 name came later. Calling them Air Max III is a nod back to the original name.

These are must haves for sure. Refused to pay resell prices for these b/c I knew eventually we’d get a “retro”-ing or re-release of them again. 1st pair of 90’s were those mixtape A-side pair or whatever they were called & fell in love w/ that silhouette. Comfy, great retro/old school styling & just dope.

I owned pairs of the AM90 and Jordan 6 when first released. The Air Max 90 was more of an orange like this release, and the Jordans 6's were more red, though I don't recall either of them being called Infrared at the time though.

Actually the "Sail" are the first of the "Recraft". The Sail Colorway comes in the same small box as the Volt, Blue and Pink and it is a Sail box. Same accessories. Only difference is the Sail reads 1990 on one and 2020 on the other. I'm sure you can see a KZbin video on them.

Spoke to a Nike Rep and asked, “Why isn’t this AM 90 called the Infrared?” I was told, “Radiant Red was the true original colorway and not Getting nfrared.” Radiation Red is a more orange looking colorway and is definitely not Infrared. Chris, you were right again! 👍
