The Air Jordan 8 was based on the Hiphop Culture around that time, the Jumpman Chenille Patch was not just branding for the Jumpman but it was also supposed to represent a Peace Sign. Bc back in the early 90s peace sign medallion’s were very popular in urban fashion. It was also and ode to Spikes 40acres and a Mule Brand which Nike had a huge hand in. The artwork on the plastic panels were to represent pop art. Tinker was always tapped in when it came to culture and design.

I hit on the Shock Drop as well! My mother couldn't afford these when they came out, so she brought a the "Pay Less" Knock Off Version, which was the XJ-900s. I got roasted/teased like crazy over those shoes. When I look back on that, it makes me appreciate my mother more, because she tried her best, but I'm glad that I can actually buy the retro pair now.

I remember when a lot of kids were wearing Jay’s I begged my mom for some but at the time she said she couldn’t afford them but got me the Spaulding Olajuwon’s instead. I only wore them with long jeans so I could cover up the Spaulding logo. Looking back I should have been proud as I was the only one with them.

Im def going after these. 8s hold a special place for me , their original release in '93 were my first ever pair of Js (though was the AJ8 Aquas for me). I've only ever had the 2013 version of these Playoff 8s which left a lot to be desired , so looking for hopefully a better version with this retro. Of course & sadly as with many newer retros didn't get everything right compared to the OG. The shape especially hard to get past on some newer retros (on certain / most models) for us OG collectors. I'll be grabbing a pair , and with the amount still to be released and amount of retailers carrying them i'd expect most people who want these should be able to get a pair.

This was my first pair of Retro Jordans. My uncle bought the 07 Retro for me in middle school. Wore them and played ball in them until i could not anymore lol. Still got the 2013's in great condition. The pair from the shock drop came in yesterday, they are fire. Great review!

Aqua 8’s just retroed in 2015, and they were literally sitting on so many different sites at that time as if no one really wanted them. I remember seeing them on Finishline in most sizes months after they dropped in like late 2015 early 2016

These were the shoes that got me into the sneaker culture and have never looked back. I wore these to kickball games in grade school, shooting hoops with the boys on the court. These 8s did it all. when I heard they were re-releasing them in the OG format, hint the Red heel loop. I just have to get them. Been waiting for 30 years for these and now the time has come. I still remember when i was a 10 yr old kid and was in the USA for vacation during the summer while it was the middle of the NBA playoffs and i bought these and the barkley air force max which was very popular since barkley was the mvp and was tearing it up with the suns. This was also my 3rd jordan shoe as a kid (had the 5 og colorway, 7 bordeaux and this) I actually wore the barkleys more because i found them more comfortable than these because the fit seemed too narrow for my feet but looking back the design of this shoe was really ahead of its time. Now i can finally get this again after 30 years.

Got this as my very first Jordan sneaker today! JD Sports inside my local mall had one last pair of my size (originally was going to go 9.5 but they ran out so went with 9, as typically for a narrow footer you would go half sized down, plus I was able to try on a size 9 before that day at another store selling vintage Jordans)! No wonder they're clunky, but worth it on my journey to wear all 14 OG Jordan colorways, I really can't wait for another 11 Concord (hopefully) rerelease since 2025 will be that shoe's 30th anniversary!

I stared down this shock drop when I got the notification, but I decided not to buy them. The pictures on the SNKRS app looked a bit off to me, and this review verified my assumptions of this release using a thicker nubuck on the overlays which I don’t like. I’m glad that you got your pair early for you to share with the rest of us. I hope that everyone who wants a pair gets it. I’ll be sitting this one out, and wait until they release the chrome color way.

The memories! these were my second and last pair of Jordan shoes growing up and I absolutely loved them and wore them all the time. I was not able to grab a pair when they shock dropped but got a notification yesterday that I was eligible for early access and copped a pair which should arrive next week, some reviewers are saying this retro will sit and perhaps even go on sale, but I think that's just click bait, I'm positive they will sell out on release and I wasn't going to allow myself missing out

I think I am one of those few people that loved the 8s. I had the originals aquas back in the day and played in them. Love the playoffs too…my neighbor had them. That 23 is one of the best in the entire line…though I might be bias and say I like the aquas more because they were embossed but those are a close second. ❤️💯😍

The cross straps are maybe my favorite Tinker Hatfield creation. That and holes in the tongue on the 6. I especially love the pretty, curvy, pointy plastic buckle. Like you didn't need to make it all fancy like that Tink, but of course you did. HOWEVER, I am not a fan of the plastic stuff on the side. I wish it looked a little more slick in that department. But otherwise it looks perfect. Plain toe for life!

I had a pair of OG’s. I absolutely loved the cross strap! I had a pair of 6’s, 7’s and the 94 retro of the 3 also. Of those four I absolutely loved playing in my 8’s over the others. Would wear them all the time in gym class. And I liked wearing them just to school too. If I remember correct when wearing just to wear, I’d not tie them and just adjust the cross straps to my liking. If they got too much I’d loosen them, but usually had them fairly tight. I’m really struggling on not wanting to have these retros, but I’m holding out for the aquas or bugs bunnies as I never had those ones and wanted them too.
