Weatherby Model 307 Rifle Family

For those of you who are on the fence with this rifle i purchased one in 257 wby and loaded some 100g barns ttsx with 59.5g of h-4350 just to get some rounds down the barrel. My first group 4 shot group was 1/2 inch at 100 i cleaned the rifle and shot another 4 with 3 in the same hole. Group was well .40” I’ve got 25 rounds down the barrel and every group I shot was well under half inch. It’s very well built and the quality fit and finish is like the mark 5 perfect. 10/10 I highly recommend this rifle.

Good info for me! I’m comparing it to other options. For people complaining about price.. Tikka and Bergara neither one offer the features that this gun offers. Yes, you can enter their brands with their base models, but to get what this gun offers, it’s several hundred $$ more expensive at least. You get quite a bit in this gun, and I’m exciting to own it in 243 for coyotes and cross over for deer!

@@lauraburandt2655 I just did load development yesterday with mine and I’m getting sub half moa .40” with 71.5g h-1000 using 100g ttsx bullets shooting 3390 fps I’m very happy with this rifle. And the .257 wby mag is a real nice cartridge to shoot.

Sure wish you would have went with a tri-lug to keep a short bolt throw but been innovative enough to make it fit the same as a 700 so you could be modular still like you are. That would have been something. 90deg is a no fly zone for me. Sorry.

I personally like the bigger bolt rotation. Its makes its lighter to pull up the cocking mechanism. 90 might be a bit extreme though

@@crownember560 I got big hands and then constantly hit my knuckles on the scopes with 90deg bolt lifts. I don’t like having to think to open palm the bolt in hunting situations.

@SakoSTW WY that would make sense. I generally do bench shooting but when i am hunting i stil open palm lift the bolt and i generally dont run it really fast just so i can keep my target in my scope without moving things.

I wish trigger tech would straighten out the physical shape of their triggers a little. I sold a gun that had one because it was too curved for my fingers to fit in. I have large hands but my fingers aren't overly thick by any stretch.

307 is basically a copy of a Bergara premier action rifles, features are the exact same along with the trigger

For starters, Weatherby actions have a thicker recoil lug that is part of the receiver. Secondly, Weatherby actions are machined after heat treat so they don't really need to be trued up. There is a reason gun smiths love 700 actions. Its because they need so much work.

Just realized the van guard talon is 1500$. And the new 307 xp is 1100$. How's that work ? Is it that peak stock? Is that why it's so much more? I own a weather guard bronze now. Wonder if my next should be a talon or 307 XP

The Talon uses the Peak 44 Blacktooth Stock, the same as the Mark V Backcountry 2.0

It fits all rem 700 triggers and chassis. It's 2lug but now available to use all the most popular aftermarket accessories.

1/2 by 28 u will have to use a adapter for any of the suppressors in any of calibers in 308 case and up that’s a miss unless he miss spoke. Should be 5/8-24. 1/2 by 28 is for 223 case and smaller

You are working with Magpul, so just build a simple 307 and add the Magpul hunter stock and magazine floorplate. Plane barrel no fluting. A no frills rifle with only the things a hunter needs. 18-20" barrel lengths for hush cans on the end. Build it and we will come in droves... You want to really set it off, have Magpul make you a slanted Roy Weatherby cheekpiece for the Monte Carlo look of the classic rifles. So at a glance everyone knows its a Weatherby! If you don't want the Weatherby cheek piece, just put on a standard Magpul and you don't have keep it. But it would be a fitting tribute to Roy.

Why not modify their 6/9 lug Mk V design to fit in a REM 700 blueprint? 2 lug action in 2024 doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me, you have that in the Vanguard already.

So let me get this straight.. You’re charging $1200 for the Range XP, but $3000 for the Alpine? Where is the $1800 dollar difference coming from? You could buy the Range XP, take the stock off and throw it away, then buy the HNT 26 chassis for about $1400 straight from MDT.. Would make some sense if it was maybe $2200 for the Alpine version, but $3k??? Holy hell Weatherby, that’s a damn ripoff.

At least with the chassis models you don't get the magpul "bottom metal" which is plastic. Edit: The chassis is $1679.95 CAD pesos. Surely it's priced better in the US? The prices mentioned in this video were all US MSRPs weren't they?

@@1madmaxx80 it’s 1599 usd It’s just an expensive chassis, but it does offer things the market doesn’t, so it can charge that for now. It’s about the lightest chassis on the market, folds, and has arca integration into the forend. It’s not for me, but it does bring features with its price
