If it is a new rifle, call the factory and let them correct their mistakes. If not, take it to a qualified gunsmith, it could be a multitude of things.

In a pinch, you can catch the cocking lug on an edge like a table top. But make sure the table won't mar the lug, and your wife doesn't mind the divot in her Grandmother's handmedown mahogany dining room table.

This is an overpriced rifle with overpriced ammo . I didn't say they weren't good. Just overpriced. I have several that shoot better for half the money.
