The axle swap by its own changes everything. Simple and cheap, that's the only mandatory fix to do in my opinion. As optional works, I would put NEM couplings for my own use as I equip my fleet with Roco universal couplings (good compromise for me between price, manual ease of uncoupling, overall reliability and total compatibility with any mecanical decoupler. Sole drawbacks : ugly and no predecoupling). Roco sells a short coupling cinematic with a NEM pocket that would easily fit on this model (ref. 40343) if you want any kind of NEM coupling with the same functionnality as the original couplers. Great weathering work by the way. I have seen many of the SNCF equivalent in real life of the CCT (old OCEM vans) as dirty as the one you treated when I was a kid.

When I was a kid I never saw any parcel stock that was clean, and often very dirty!

Cheers Kev! I only found out when I asked why Peters Spares was selling Lima specific replacement wheels.

Really interesting and informative, I'm a fan of Lima rolling stock but didn't know about the replacement wheels. Useful stuff, thanks.

Glad it was helpful! As I say, not all wheels need replacing, for some reason.

Surprising what you can do with those old models. Those wheels were pretty awful though.

Can you advise how much you dilute that wash?
@MessingaboutwithModels
@MessingaboutwithModels 6 ай бұрын
I didnt dilute the wash that much - its already been diluted a bit (if you dont want to buy a separate wash, you can just dilute a black acrylic paint with water).

Great video - couple of novice questions though. The wash all over the sides, is that simply black acrylic paint with thinners mixed in? Also do you let that dry before using the weathering powders?

These are from Peter's Spares, reference PS34. They've made these specially to replace existing Lima wheels.

@@MessingaboutwithModels Interesting video, thanks, One query - your poly bag appears to read PS115 and on Peter's Spares website both PS34 and PS115 are listed. PS115 has three holes in the wheel (as your samples) which suggests that your wheels are PS115 rather than PS34. My apologies if this comes across as nit-picking but I want to be sure before ordering.
