Weatherproofing Hack for Animated Decoration - Easy

Is your awesome Halloween animatronic not made for the outdoors (ridiculous - I know)? This is an easy hack that has worked for my non-outdoor animatronic. After a week of rain it's still running strong. I hope this video helps make your Halloween display great!

That's exactly what I do to my animatronics because you're exactly right, to use them indoors or covered areas is useless.

Even though all cosmetics are covered the latex head will dry rot in weather

What about the electrical plug? Did you leave that out in the grass when it rained?

Yes. Just on the grass. It’s plugged in snug to an exterior extension cord and my outdoor outlet is a gfci (the ones with the red and black buttons) if it does get wet. I haven’t had any issues. We are in the middle of another wet week in Chicago, but so far so good. Good luck!

What did you To keep the outside of the animatronics wet from getting wet

They really need to make them weatherproof. I have a few and I can never put them out because of the rubbish UK weather.

Does the motor get hot enough to melt the bag around it .?

Usually the reindeer motors they use for these generate little heat and pretty much any yard trash bag can handle it.
