@StealthGTI Жыл бұрын
@@jorgevillacis8127 - Yes, "subjective." It means "Based on a given person's experience, understanding, and feelings; personal or individual." FEELINGS is an operative word there, in my opinion. So, some people like them, some people don't. "Looks tacky or "bad taste" is not objective fact; it's opinion and, therefore, subjective. I will assume that most Aston Martin and MB owners don't care for them since there aren't window deflectors available at Weathertech, a major maker of the product, for those cars. Too little interest from customers does not justify the expense of making the product for those cars. I'm sure SOMEONE wants them for those cars, but they are too far in the minority to justify Weathertech's effort in making window deflectors. BUT, any car that has an available window deflector means that there are enough owners who subjectively feel that they are worth it. Follow the money. Subjectively, enough people like them to justify the R&D costs to produce a product that sells. Personally, I bought them far more for their usefullness than their looks. Once I discovered the noise, they became less practical to me and I removed them. Later, I returned ONE to the car because it's useful there and not noisy at all. But that's my SUBJECTIVE opinion, not objective fact. 😏

I think they also give somewhat of a more sporty look to the GTI, or any small hatch or pseudo-sport vehicle for that matter. They look REALLY good on yours for a not-so-expensive pseudo-mod. They match the window tint and your wheels too! And yes, they ARE great for when one needs fresh side-window air when it's raining. I have these on all of my Vehicles and love them especially on a hot muggy day where you need to leave your car window cracked, like when at a mall or Game or even going fishing and car is sitting in the sun all day. I Am sure that 120+ Degrees temperature is not good for my dash or Leather interior. Only Complaint I have are the infiniti FX45 design of the rear window deflector, because of how of a weird shape the rear window is, as soon as you roll it down 1/16 of an inch, it leaves a gap where water will get in. So if you have a Infiniti FX45 or 35 the Rear deflectors are horrible and will let in water as soon as you bring it down 1/16 of an inch. Weathertech should've done a better job and I am sure they know this. Otherwise I have only had good experience with Weathertech Products and still look just as good 10 years later.

I think venting on hot days is specifically what they're for. It IS possible for them to be stolen with the window cracked 2-3 cm. Perhaps open just 1cm instead. The car will vent just as well and a potential thief would have to look MUCH closer to tell if the windows are cracked. They're probably a lot more difficult to remove with such little free space above the deflector. Thanks for visiting!

When I removed mine, they really weren't stuck terribly firm. The window channel is about 4-5mm thick. Roll down the window and press directly inward, pushing the deflector away from its mating. Don't try to rotate the deflector out before breaking their seal. A plastic pry tool may help, too. Apply pinpoint pressure at one edge, directly toward the center of the car, and continue to work the deflector away from its mating surface as you work toward the other end. Once the seal is broken, then it should be safe enough to pull down on the front to get the deflector out of the channel. Oddly enough, I reinstalled my rear deflectors. I'm experimenting with them... just the rears, though. Good Luck!

If you smoke in the car this is amazing in the rain
@StealthGTI2 жыл бұрын
You smoke with the windows cracked? Dude, if you're going to smoke, then SMOKE. Seal those windows and take it all in! ;-) HAHA! Just playing! Thanks for visiting!
@Moistnmeaty90 Жыл бұрын
You must be a fellow smoker. These are pretty much mandatory for smoking in the rain without making a mess.

HAHA! Nope! I've never smoked anything. But I do park and operate my radios in the rain from time to time. Thanks for visiting!

They have their pros and cons. Not sure if they make them for older cars, though. Good Luck!

I wonder if there’s any way to remove the logo on the visors for a cleaner look…
@StealthGTI3 жыл бұрын
Are you referring to the logos on the deflectors and not the "safety" labels on the visors? The deflector labels are just adhesive stick-ons. The labels are very thin. I suspect some heat will help them come up. I never bothered to remove them. Thanks for visiting.

They do widen the columns,which I don’t like.

I agree with that, but I noticed that my seals swelled back to seal properly within a week of removing mine. Thanks for visiting!

It's difficult to hide a ham antenna.
@StealthGTI3 жыл бұрын
It really depends on the antenna. "Ham radio" encompasses a very wide variety of frequencies and, therefore, antennas. I usually have just an 18-inch VHF/UHF antenna mounted. It's barely visible most of the time. See it and my others in this segment: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eXmXmql_fbSIhNU. Thanks for visiting.

Two sets sent from Weathertech, both scratched. I'm not putting those on my new Jeep. Disappointed.

Bought for my 4Runner didn’t like the look and install also cracked during the process. RETURNED full refund. 😎

I still have mine in my shed. I may reinstall the rear deflectors so that I can crack the rear windows for a little ventilation when parked for ham radio activities. They could be beneficial if I'm ever desperate enough to sleep in my car. ;-) Take Care!

Love them had the avs ones and they don’t stick at all compared to the weather tech ones. Once I receive my replacement ones I am going to see if they do work if you have a laudau roof top covering ( I hope so ).

I don't like any of them. I think they all have problems not sticking correctly. And not working right.

The Weathertechs held fine of my car. Today, I have ONE installed on the rear passenger side window. It's a kooky decision that's related to my ham radio pursuits. There's no additional noise with just a rear deflector. Thanks for visiting!

Why would you take any body seriously who owns a VW anything, They make disposable JUNK !the Weather Tech is best thing on the car.😳
@StealthGTI Жыл бұрын
I appreciate your thought-provoking and insightful post. HAHA! Just don't tell my 200,000-mile GTI that it's disposable. It's currently under the impression that it's a product of the second largest automaker in the world. That could be A LOT of junk on the planet! ;-) Thanks for visiting!

Body shop owner 30 years experience and these things are junk I expected alot more from weather tech, any thing that doest fasten to the car won't work they tell you to keep windows up 12 hours not 11 or 13 lol

He did. I had just recorded this video when he said that he had ordered his. He has a very fast workflow on his videos. So, he ordered, installed, produced a video, and removed his all in the time it took for my queued video to go live. HAHA! I try to published every Thursday and have been working a week or two in advance to avoid rushing.

Jesus I was looking for an opinion on window deflectors and get see the most pointless and boring video ever that 95% spoke about everything else except window deflectors.
