Teaching my daughters about "living long ago" today. I remembered I had this video saved to watch later and it was a great example of a loom in action, thanks! Ha. I do love your art work. Lovely to see it come to life, in action!
@ThreefoldDesigns4 жыл бұрын
Haa, that's so cool! Yeah, the actual process of making a tapestry is thousands of years old, and hasn't really changed (paintings from ancient Egypt show looms much the same as the ones I use!). It's pretty cool to create contemporary pieces of art using ancient techniques :)

I watched it again. So many questions! I am attempting my first tapestry. What do you do with the fringe at the end. What do you do with the remaining “grass” after mowing the back. I wish you were slower when dealing with roundish weaving and show how you achieve it

Hellooo! I have a lot of videos on my KZbin channel, including how I finish tapestries, how I do the hem, and close up 'weave with me' videos - have a watch, and let me know if you have any questions, or requests for videos 😁

Haa! I think people usually think they are part of the piece in progress pics ... but there's something so satisfying about taking them and the cartoon off at the end 😉

What type of thread do you weave with?
@ThreefoldDesigns4 жыл бұрын
Hey Miranda! I use a combination of wool, cotton and linen. The linen gives my tapestries a stiffness I really like 😉

What loom are you using in this video? It's not the one in the Ashford Tapestry loom in your My Equipment link.
@ThreefoldDesigns3 ай бұрын
Yeah, Ashford have stopped making this loom since I posted this video :( It's an Ashford Tapestry loom, you may be able to find it secondhand?

Can you do a series? From start to finish? Simple block or a repetitive pattern. Could you dumb it down?.. like you were teaching an 8 ear old. I think I would reall enjoy this art form, so please consider it.

Hey Elizabeth, have you seen Rebecca Mezoff's channel? She does amazing content for beginners! I'm not a tapestry teacher, I'm a fine artist, I'm just documenting my processes here on KZbin. You may enjoy my recent 'Weave With Me' video, I'll be doing a lot more of these! :)

Is no one going mention that the tapestry says: "ART IS FOR LOSERS", but she does art?💀(edit: no offence intended!)

Haha, it's something that my parents used to say to me as a kid when I always said I wanted to be an artist when I grew up ;) So yeah, it's a social comment on the lack of value put on art in today's society, but also a bit of dark humour ;)
