That shawl, the red and black one; was it in two separate peices?

I hand dye most warps. There are often several separate pieces that I turn into shawls or shawl coats.

Thank you Margery. Can you share the maker of your favorite shuttle?
@MargeryErickson Жыл бұрын
Harrisville Designs is the maker. It was my first shuttle...came with the loom. It fit my hand and I liked the weight. I have found some shuttles are a little heavier than others. May be the wood or the time it was made. I also use Schacht bobbins. The added length on the ends seems to slow the bobbin down.

If you don’t use the floating selvedge, are you saying that you don’t worry when it skips the outer thread and just aim for consistency overall, and just be happy with it?
@MargeryErickson Жыл бұрын
Yes - as long as it is not too long. I have used floating selvages on some projects. When wearing a scarf or shawl the edges is moving when on the body. The selvages are not that noticeable. I do believe consistency is important. Yes I am happy with this. I will do whatever I can not to use them.

Many years of practice, winding the bobbin correctly, and making sure I am at a comfortable level to weave.
