WEAVING INSTRUCTIONS - PART 8 - LARGE SOUMAK & BASKET WEAVE

Watch this video to learn how to make the pretty basket weave. I have added 3 different yarns and woven them in at the same time to get a more woven look.
If you want to make the full woven wall hanging then watch Part 1 and all the following parts to complete the woven wall hanging. Each part will go over another weaving technique. This way you can choose what type of weave you like and create your own fabulous wall hanging or use my instructions to make the full woven hanging that I have created for you.

Supplies:
-frame loom and yarn for the warp threads if you haven't already got this far.
-yarn for the soumak weave: Loops and threads Biggie yarn.
-yarn for the basket weave: Lion Brand Homespun white, Loops and Threads snuggly wuggly grey and Bernat Baby Coordinates in white.
- tapestry needle
-Afro hair pick for tapestry beater or other tapestry beater of your choice

So beautiful! The variety of yarns, besides the variety of weaves, make for a lot of interest. The little bits of shiny, is like glitter to catch the eye. This has been exciting to witness. I look forward to how this all comes to it’s final display stage. It is exciting to learn a new craft that has so much artistic potential.

I really like the baby coordinates. A very thin yarn but sure adds some brightness! Finishing up my last part today and the weaving series will be complete. Soon you will see the grand finale!

What do you mean by body lengths?

Hold the end of your yarn in your left hand and pick up the other end of your yarn with right hand and straighten out left and right arms from your sides. The length between your left and right hand is your body length. I guess I should have said width to be more precise.

It would be SO much more useful if you could show a complete soumak without fading out the clip before completing one wrap and moving to the next - is this not a tutorial?
