WEAVING INSTRUCTIONS - PART 7 - HOW TO MAKE LOOPS

Learn how to make loops to add more dimension and fun to your weaving projects.
If you want to make the full woven wall hanging then watch Part 1 and all the following parts to complete the woven wall hanging. Each part will go over another weaving technique. This way you can choose what type of weave you like and create your own fabulous wall hanging or use my instructions to make the full woven hanging that I have created for you.

Supplies:
-frame loom and yarn for the warp threads if you haven't already got this far.
-shed stick and weaving shuttle
-yarn for the loops: Loops and threads Biggie yarn, a light grey bulky yarn and Bernat Softee Chunky in white
- tapestry needle
-Large knitting needle size 10 or US15,
-Afro hair pick for tapestry beater or other tapestry beater of your choice

Love this. I wonder if a variation could be applied to a macramé wall hanging. Would love some yarn loops in the macramé wall hanging.

Yes, you can definitely can add loops. Just have your strands of macrame come down with no knots and that’s where you can add some weaving into your macrame. I should do a video on this! Add to my list of to does!

So did you do this entire piece 2 up and 2 down? Or just during this demonstration for this thicker yarns etc?

Because I design as I go I was not sure what I was going to do. But I did end up using the two warp threads through most of the weaving. If I had of chosen a very thin yarn then I would have used just 1 thread to go over and under. If the yarn is really thick than use more warp threads to go over and under. Hope that makes sense.

Crafty Patti thank you. Yes it makes sense. I am a newbie and have made 3 pieces so far. I watch videos and seems there are some similarities and some differences on how people weave and how they warp their looms. Thx again for your amazing videos❣️

How do you measure how much yarn you need to make loops? Thanks

For this particular weaving project I just measured out about 2 metres or 2 yards. You will be having to pull it all through before you form your loops so it’s easier if you don’t have your piece of yarn to long. With this type of weaving you can just break the wool when you want to finish the loops or just add another piece where you left off if you want more loops.

No need for rows in between. But if you want it to look like single rows of loops than sure add rows in between.
