ABOUT THE ARTIST
Karen Hampton, a 2022 American Craft Council Fellow, is a conceptually based fiber artist who addresses issues of colorism and kinship. Hampton is recognized as a figurative storyteller who weaves together textures and colors of the ancient world with that of an imagined future. Using her training in the fiber arts with her training in anthropology, she synthesizes the weaver's role with that of a griot, the storyteller.
