WEAVING TEXTURES TECHNIQUES | Weaving Tutorial | Didsbury Art Studio

In this longer than usual video I share with you several weaving techniques and how I run through composing a weave based on a theme. In this case the theme is SEASONS in particular WINTER for a school project. So I'm using a range of neutral wools and some subtle colour incorporated throughout. The artist references I have been inspired by for this weave are #Crossingthreads they are amazing...

What do you work as?
After doing my Textiles degree I did my PGCE training in London to become an Art and Design Secondary School Teacher. Currently, I work in a hospital teaching Art part-time to 16-18 year olds. In addition, also teach art in my studio on Saturdays and I offer textile workshops to schools. I set up this channel in April 2020 after being furloughed during Lockdown but soon realised I really enjoyed designing, creating projects, filming and editing videos.

Hi Karen I buy foamboard I get mine from hobbycraft and then I just use a craft knife for the grooves on the edges. I like to keep the weaves on the boards but I'll switch that up and take them off soonish. I'll do another video at some point to show how I do this.😃

@@didsburyartstudio thanks. I think this is a good idea to keep on the board. What sort of board - presume you cut notches in too and bottom to hold warp ? So board couldn’t be too thick? Thanks.
