PART 3 of Web Developer Reacts to Personal Portfolios highly requested by all of you guys!
I will give my honest and professional opinion from the perspective of a web developer, and then we will also put the developers skills to the test to see if their designs translate to a responsive mobile view! Do you think they will be able to do it??
Web development can be extremely complex sometimes, and the websites that we look into today use many concepts of not only HTML, CSS and JavaScript, but also design, animation, special effects and 3D modelling!

As a developer, I have to say that a website not being "meant to" switch from desktop to mobile is an implementation oversight, i. e. unprofessional. This is especially true if you do not use any advanced mobile/desktop detection, but just rely on breakpoints, because there will always be some tablet that will be whatever the developer thought is "desktop" in landscape orientation, but become "mobile" in portrait. If the implementation is so bad that it requires a reload (which just shouldn't be the case in the first place), at least do the reload for the user instead of requiring them to know about this.

Loved the video! Quick note - hosting server speed has absolutely nothing to do with the performance on the front-end - if the websites are lagging because of visual effects/scroll transitions, it's because of your GPU! The speed of the hosting provider mainly impacts the page load times, rather than the actual performance once the page has loaded. Please don't use this to sell hosting providers in the future, it's misleading - especially as it's a sponsored segment and you're calling a site out during it! I hope you take this as constructive criticism - I loved every single other aspect of the video! Keep up the good work.
@developerfilip
@developerfilip 2 жыл бұрын
You are very correct as per the fact that I was totally restricted by my GPU. That’s a solid fact! I would argue with the hosting having absolutely nothing as per front-end performance. With libraries like Three.js and GSAP, they are very reliant on GPU processing and RAM, but also the speed at which the effects can be loaded is important (bandwidth, size of hard drive). For such applications, a VPS should be used, but in a case where a VPS does not meet the minimum requirements to be running heavy rendered blender models with animations and live transformation, the hosting provider who is providing the owner with the required hardware could be a big limiting factor as per performance! Anyway - you are making some great points and thank you for being an awesome subscriber! I love discussions like this!

I really like these sites. But you're inspecting them in a weird way. As a tip, when you inspect the mobile layouts on the debugger, you have to refresh the page. These inspectors are not always reliable for how it would look on a mobile browser. People don't usually resize the browsers to see how it looks on mobile, so the sites don't always work as expected when doing so. However, if you refresh the page, for the first two sites, you'll see they work a bit different on mobile. They just seem broken on resize, but they adjust to different break points accordingly if you open them from other devices, or reload them. Also, some functionality can be triggered differently depending on the device the site is being accessed from. It's not just the CSS adjustments that matter in these complex sites.

Hey buddy! It’s a think we all get when we start learning something new where it becomes overwhelming and confusing to the point like you said that you don’t know what to do. My best advice is to follow tutorials, code alongs, and then set yourself little challenges such as: today I will create a weather widget, or a form that collects data and saves it. Then slowly everything will start making sense. Oh and on top of all, never give up even if it seems impossible, you are doing great, keep grinding! 😎

Filip, you are so merciless while reviewing the websites for factual and design errors but there is a gaping hole in your video -- the lag and "slow website" is not due to a slow webhost, but a client-side problem, either due to a heavy website that consumes a lot of resources, or a system that lacks in configuration, or both. I get that this is for a promotion, but you could've chosen a better way to do it! :)
