Any artist that isnt in awe of their own creative process, isnt a true artist. They arent open to the universe and reaching their apex. I love to see Dave Bayley express this awe. And his music is stunning. I had the privilege of attending a concert in Oklahoma City and it was my all time favorite concert. He is a consummate performer.

This is a lovely interview! I enjoy the soft and gentle interview style of the interviewer in this. Idk if it's for Dave, or he is always this way, but it's quite comforting!! I have secondhand comfort from this interview. And I absolutely love hearing this information too. What a beautiful conversation, thank you for sharing this priceless event with us all:)

man... for the past 7-8 years or so that i've been listening to this band, being there for the release of dreamland+ilysfm, i've always had this inkling feeling of disappointment hearing the releases and not feeling great about em. Like from a technical standpoint... granted I'm not a music artist, but I lean towards genres with that weird sound but still follow the format of pop in a way (music nerds lmk what that means!). I've been putting ilysfm on repeat the past few days hoping something would click but it kinda hasnt. but listening to this interview + reading dave's comments on his music: i can definitely see the progression and growth happening within the albums & songs. especially his comment about zaba. i am fking obsessed with that jungle sounding sht going on and those mumbly vocals. I've always used those qualities to insert my own interpretations on what the songs mean.. but i can ALSO totally see why dave doesn't like it. like this whole time i saw zaba as this masterpiece when in reality the artist wasn't even truly putting themselves into it. as an artist (a visual one.. not music!) it definitely sucks to feel that and see it happening. I always want the dudes that i listen to to be 110% into the stuff they're making. and i guess it sucks that the stuff they put 110% into just isn't my cup of tea! especially when i've been calling em my favorite band of all time for the past 7 years. hopefully dave keeps going on this new track of music making & continues to put out stuff he and his mates dig with. granted me, as a consumer, might not enjoy it, but i'd be a really big hypocrite if i didn't encourage it. i've never seen a pop artist be *this* into the stuff they're making. 100% support from my end

Honestly, this is one of my favorite comments ive seen on the album. Being open to knowing that something thats garbage to you isnt garbage for everyone is something the internet seems to forget to do. Ive never really liked Zaba, the sounds just arent my thing. Its weird, but i can totally understand why people like it! I am a musical artist, so the fact you can tell they put all their love into this is really cool. We really put all out love and efforts into our songs (at least people like me and Dave tho Dave is on another galaxy compared to my skills lol) so seeing somebody appreciate the love without loving the end result is really cool to see. So thanks; keep jamming to Zaba. I'll see them in Washington in Sept and i cant wait to scream Lost in the Ocean at the top of my lungs. Have a good day :)

Heat waves the album but i feel its his best work so far. Trying to be experimental in this day is tough when you have a hit. So he wrote a bunch of heat waves that are great. The album flows well because of its sameness

The interviewer's heavy breathing in my ears and that one constant 'yea' almost after every Dave's word is just annoying The album is dope though , I was really interested

It's clear that Dave writes what he's feeling/thinking in his albums. I find each album has an emotional theme. Zaba was really fantasy and abstract. HTBAHB was heavy and dark. Dreamland was about memories and processing (like he said in this interview). And then this ILYSFM album is clearly a deep passionate emotion. Sad, but also angry, but also passionate. I think this new album IS magical. But to each their own I suppose!
