Seeing mismatch and seeing the documentary, I can say Glip is only care about their self gratification. I understand trama makes something reality distorted. But when people constantly try call them out for how much their action hurt them and they refuse because if they want to change, they need to realize the things giving them pleasure are bad. And like a drug addict, denying that pleasure is painful to them. Sadly, they can rarely be rehabilitated. They will continue destroying themselves in the pursuit of pleasure untill they crash and burn.

The story so far of everyone about these creators was already extremely hard to sit through for me. But I really need to comment on this part specifically, as an asexual person the part you mention about "the plot about a couple trying to coerce a known asexual person" is the moment that actually made me feel like puking. Because it very personally put into perspective that given the chance, these people would probably end up objectifying me as well. It's fucking even more horrifying in that context, that to Glip the idea of "fixing" an asexual person is gratifying to them in the same sense that they want to "awaken" minors its absolutely fucking foul. I just want to say Riiser, thank you so much for actually putting in the work to document the absolutely heinous stuff behind this comic. Watching this series is the first I ever heard about it, and I think this is the kind of discussion that's really important to inform people about online. I have much respect for you actually going out of your way to thoroughly document it because I think I would have gone insane if I tried to do the same.

something really fucked up that ppl dont talk about was that beleth (the cat puppet thing) was asexual and people were really happy about the representation but became less happy as glip kept using them in weird gross porn and when ace people talked about how uncomfortable they felt about an ace character being shoved into a lot of porn glip threw a tantrum and declared that beleth wasn't ace anymore. another gross fact about beleth: white beleth is controlled by a child, so whenever glip put white beleth in porn its actually a child.... doing that.... its fucking gross

Talking about the art, I would argue that it's not that great honestly. Sure, it has its strong ponts, but glip has a really hard time with basic things like proportions, values and sometimes shading (and don't forget the classic bean mouth). It often looks unpolished and dirty, especially on the main Flora site. Granted, the comic updated frequently, so it's not like they had time to polish everything, but it's THEM who decided to update it that way. Even their strong point, the coloring, is fucked up by a constant se of magenta. I personally don't care as long as it's not an eyesore, but a lot of people had problem with that. The character designs can sometimes be weak too, Furfur being the most glaring example. Some of the designs (especially the insect ones) are really fucked up anatomy-wise, and while I personally don't care about that too much (it's a fantasy comic that doesn't make sense anyway), many did have a problem with that. Some characters have too much detail while others are complete opposite and are just cats/dogs with a hat or something. And many of the designs aren't even featured in the comic anyway. The main downfall of the art is that it's rushed through and therefore unpolished and lazy. Especially now where most of the unique things in glip's artstyle are gone and it's now just generic surreal art or paint scribbles. Ok, sorry for making a wall of a comment, but I'm kind of obsessed about glip's art and don't really have anyone to share it with. Thanks for the video, man!

I dropped following Floraverse 8 years ago after how bad Seeds was, but what really got me was how Glip doubled down on the content in Forbidden Flora when people criticized that it came off as coercive or not consensual (ex. Mismatch). When I saw that comic (and several others) I just assumed it was a non-consent fetish comic for people into that, but Glip would not stop backpedaling over how that's a "wrong" interpretation. I don't buy that, but even if it was true, Glip really doesn't know how to write whatever the intent was effectively. I was also disappointed when I saw people on Tumblr recommend the comics with Oroboas and Amdusias as a cute couple, and when I read it I was shocked by how coercive and creepy Orobas was. But it was portrayed as cute or normal and the criticism was blown off. Not to mention the explanation on how Beleth could join in the relationship despite being asexual was pure nonsense and creepy, it's like no character is off limits from being sexualized regardless of age, species, or orientation. If it was purposely supposed to be a story about an unhealthy relationship I really wouldn't have an issue, but it just shows how warped Glip's relationships and views on consent are in real life. Horrible comic by horrible people.

Imma be honest, back then I didn't know what I was doing when I came to adult story making, or RP's but that's cause due to my autism that I couldn't fully grasp things. As in things I saw or read. But now I make sure that whenever I make stories that contain adult content, I at least make sure it's of the mature rating, but the characters I mostly focused on consent and are of age. As for the other half, that's more of innocent crushes and nothing more, heck it can be just a peck on the cheek or hand, even hugging but that's it. What I'm trying to say, I make stories that I can be proud of cause of the ideas, and others can read but also be invested. Also for art, well I know those I would need to plan or have an idea that would help.

i can get why someone would make a weird soundtrack to something to put emphasis on certain elements. earthbound has this in spades, and you already mentioned undertale. thing is, all of those games' compositions are based on the context of the greater project they are a part of. assuming these two games were inspiration for the music present in floraverse, and if the greater "soundtrack" of floraverse is exactly like the sample you played, that means they didn't understand their inspirations at all and had no consideration for why it was like that in the first place. they just thought "this music is weird and our comic is weird, therefore the soundtrack of our comic should be a similar form of weird and it'll just work."

I have some knowledge on music theory so I think my thoughts matters slightly. I think Glip was trying to do something akined to Homestuck with the soundfonts they used but failed horribly. I can't even tell how many beats in a bar there are supposed to be let alone the tempo, it's about as unorthodoxed and disorganized as the storytelling. Everything being at different keys that clash with everything else, inexplicable and awkward rests, nothing follows any basic rules. There's no rhythm, if there is it's a bizarro version of it
