@@GallaghersGrub yeah I just received mine today. It's soo compact. I been using my weber traveler for camping but it's too big for transport. Definitely not ideal for camping unless you have sufficient room. And I miss charcoal grills. I have had this grill for well over 12 years. Used for camping, the first thing a did was to remove all 3 handles, replacing the lid handle with a Weber screw on handle with a heat guard. I love to grill on this Weber, once grilling is over it makes a convenient fire pit.

This was my first weber. I bought it maybe 15 years ago. Still takes it camping but a couple of weeks ago I bought the Q1200 on a trip due to very dry weather and didn't want to send sparks in to the woods from emptying the chimney starter. Always a reason to get a new weber ☺
@GallaghersGrub Жыл бұрын
A lot of Aussies have the Q1200 for the same reason. Where they go camping, they’re not allowed to bring charcoal grills because of the dry season. In any case, both grills get the job done. Cheers!

You're the first person I've ever seen that made a Bubba Burger actually look really REALLY good. Anytime I've had one that someone else has cooked it's coal black and crunchy on the outside, dark grey and dry on the inside. Well done! I've had this grill for years. Its a great direct fire portable grill. I also have the jumbo joe and its great for indirect cooking. I can cook a whole rack of spare ribs indirectly on the jumbo joe. The jumbo joe is the better portable grill and the one that comes camping with me. The go anywhere does have its place though. It fits nicely in my storage compartment of my semi and i take it with me on the road. Easy for steaks, burgers and brats.

Great review. I have over the years had two of these in the propane versions. The thing I liked about them is they are easier to store in a vehicle or RV and that's important for a portable device. I always liked the idea of propane for quick easy and clean use. That said some things I like to cook ( salmon is a biggy) don't cook well on a propane grill. I might actually get one of these for this fall coastal fishing trips. FYI, I found my gopro and accessories so I'm back to watching videos showing me how to use the darn thing. Hey I'm really looking forward to seeing you do a turkey on the Kamoda. You're really going to enjoy it. Get a two probe remote thermometer so your not opening it up to often. Brian have a great day. 🌞

Nice! This little Go-Anywhere is half the weight of the Q1200. But you do have to carry a mini-chimney and charcoal, so I guess it evens out. Can't wait to see your vids. Some of the Go-Pros have a fish-eye effect to the video, so it'll be interesting to see how that works out for you. I'd recommend using an iPhone 13 for your vids. The colors out of the new iPhones are amazing. I indirect grilled an 18-lb turkey on my weber kettle two years ago on Thanksgiving in 25 mph sustained winds. Oh man, what a pain in the ass that was. Very stressful thinking the wind would take some ash out and start a forest fire. It'll be much nicer on the windproof KJ. Cheers man!

@@GallaghersGrub so if I was to use my cell I would be using a my Samsung Galaxy. However using the videos I've been watching my gopro 7 hero black has lens adjustments to lesson the wide angle. Plus it has built in self stabilization and is waterproof to 33'. I'm going to keep the options small and simple and learn how to go from there. I do need to get a wireless microphone. It's going to be a blast sticking it underwater when netting a salmon. I intend to place it in a crab pot also so folks can see the crabs go into the pot. Yuppers, gonna be fun. 👍🔥🐟🎣🦀

I had one of these grills but must have given it away because it's nowhere to be found. There's a company in New Zealand that makes all kinds of interesting accessories for this grill to allow you to smoke or rotisserie with it and they ship to USA. I definitely like it better than the current version of the Smokey Joe because the air intake vents on that grill are above the level of charcoal so air flow isn't ideal. Thanks for another great video. I always want to fire up a grill after watching your channel.
@GallaghersGrub2 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for the kind words purleybaker. I've heard the airflow in the Smokey Joe isn't great. There's a Weber GA Life Facebook page, where people post pics with the Go-Anywhere. It inspired me to pick one of these little guys up, and I definitely like it. Fire it up!!!

Hey Brian, thanks for another awesome video. I really like your style of presentation. One thing I wonder a little about. You said, that the Go Anywhere might be better than the regular Smokey Joe. I am wondering why and I would appreciate it much, if you would explain me why that is your conclusion. I have like 5 different SJ with different colors in my collection and as well a GA which is still sitting in its unopened box. When it comes to tailgating I mostly use the Q1000 or Q1200. Fun fact: last tailgate party I showed up with the 22 1/2 inch performer 😂 Take care and thanks as always for your fantastic videos Dee
@GallaghersGrub2 жыл бұрын
Hey Dee. I haven't used the Smokey Joe in about 15 years, so going on the advice of Baby Back Maniac. He says that the Jumbo Joe is better than the Smokey Joe because of the vents. Essentially, you get better air flow with the Jumbo than the Smokey. Now, I have used the 18-inch Weber Kettle, which is now essentially the Smokey Joe, and I found it as good as a regular 22.5 inch kettle, just smaller. I also like the rectangular shape of the GA. It seems easier to pack into a vehicle than either the Smokey or the Jumbo Joes. So, you're the type that shows up at the tailgate with the full-sized performer. Lol! I love it.
@Mithrandir44442 жыл бұрын
@@GallaghersGrub Hey Brian, thanks for your detailed answer. Now I can imagine, why the GA seems to be better than the SJ. There are two types of SJ. One carries the ash pan below the cooker box like the bigger models. But Weber redesigned and put the vents left and right with the handle. The ash pan below wasn’t cool since hot coal was able to drop from the pan and fire up the environment. On Facebook there is a SJ group and you see people using them heavily. You should see that. 😂 Regarding tailgate parties, I really love that. And you won’t believe. I even showed up with a Weber Kettle Ranch. I could send you some picture via Instagram if you are interested. Take care and all the best Dee

@GallaghersGrub2 жыл бұрын
Thanks R T. Appreciate you watching. I haven't tried an electric Q, but the gas Q1200 is about 30 lbs compared to the Go Anywhere at 13. Thing is you need to carry a small chimney and charcoal with this as well. The Q1200 has about the same cooking area, so I'd say they're pretty similar. Only with this, you get a little extra flavor with the charcoal. Cheers!
